An 'HP Product assistant window keeps popping up and will not close down when I try to close it. It's been happening the last three days when I've been printing alot. The second window then pops up stating that I need an installation CD to re-install something!!! What is causing this?
Hp product assistant keeps trying to configure by gathering required info and then eventually says that i need the installation disk... I place my install disk for the printer into the drive and this seemed to get rid of the pop ups rather than it retrying every so often... However every time i boot up my machine again i have the same problem...!

Whenever I start my computer, HP Produt Update tries to load; I cannot cancel it, and eventually it asks me for a disc. The only way to get it to stop is the use the tax manager. I had a similar problem on my desktop Pavilion. This program is just sitting in memory and checking for updates. If your are not worried about getting updates then you can turn it off.
In the RUN box type MSCONFIG and the screen below will appear. Go to the Startup tab and un-check the box for "HPWuSchd2". Click OK to exit. You will need to reboot for this to take effect. (You can always turn it back on if any problems arise).
TO REMOVE ' HP PRODUCT ASSISTANT...DO THE FOILLOWING:
DOWNLOAD WINDOWS INSTALLER CLEAN-UP UTILITY FROM ; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 and save it to your computer. An "icon" will appear on your desktop....msicuu2....right click on the icon and click "open"....a window will open with a list of programs on your computer..............I found the "HP PRODUCT ASSISTANT" on the bottom of the list. ....highlite it and select delete.
This should definitely work.
