20 Most Recent HP Deskjet 6940 InkJet Printer Questions & Answers

This past Saturday we just had a similiar problem on our church HP printer. Different number than yours, but most likely the same solution. It jammed when the last person used it, so they removed the crinkled paper. Or so they thought - there was a piece maybe 1-1/2" triangular shape stuck on top. I liked to never found it, I looked even with a flashlight 4 times before I caught just a hint of white way up there. If that is not it, there could be a door you have not opened. Most of them open top, back, front. Ours also opens on the side. The back opens in two places. Occasionally there can be a piece of paper you can only see from one door.

My HP Deskjet 6940 is not printing. The color (left) low ink light is dark and the black (right) low ink light is flashing. I replaced the black ink cartridge with a new one but the low ink light continues to flash. No tears/rips in the circuit strip and all the copper leads appear to be connected

go online to Hp webpage, download the driver and install it. it will fix your problem.

Hi It sounds like a good chance the black has blocked it does not take much just things like leaving the cartridge out for a bit or it can also take a bit to get a new cartridge working. I would recommend you try to do a head clean it uses a lot of ink doing this but sometimes there is no choice. In settings you should be able to do only black option. Regards Craig

Try a original cart if it does work it will need a printhead.

Go to the settings menu and select paper handling and set the paper to 4x6.

Step 1
Open the Start menu and click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon. This will open a window with a list of the printers currently set up on your computer.
· Step 2
Double-click on the icon of the printer you want to change to online. A pop-up window detailing all current print jobs will open.
· Step 3
Go to Printer in the menu bar of the pop-up window and uncheck "Use Printer Offline." This action will change the printer from offline to online.
Mac Instructions · Step 1
Open System Preferences by clicking on the icon in the Dock.
· Step 2
Go to the Print & Fax control panel under the Hardware category.
· Step 3
Select the printer you want to take online from the list on the left side of the screen. Then click on the "Open Print Queue" button.
· Step 4
Click on the "Resume Printer" button at the top of the queue window to change the printer from offline to online.

you can click it for 10 seconds and it will show you to print it and other stuff and when it shows the whole screen click color and ther you go

If you are running Windows 7 I believe it has been disabled. There are some work arounds but I'm not sure.

do a clean - goto printer properties - should see tools there you can choose to do a clean or deepclean also try a head alignment on the maintenance section
