only a few ideas here: set will do this if lamp door or safety switch (some are activated when rear cover is removed).A common issue when wheel is replaced is the flat ribbon cable from it to the DMD unit-----it only has connections on ONE side where it plugs in and it is possible to plug it in backwards and have no operation.If lamp comes on for a very short time ballast is "possible".Also make sure not a lot of dust on fans etc.just ideas based on working on a lot of these sets.

Yes you are right. This is indeed a problem associated with the DMD board. The Chip is not sold seperately , you have to buy the whole board.It is the large board located on whats known as optical block or light engine. The board looks like this. If you can get me the part number off the board, I can find you a replacement

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the color wheel. if you dont fix it soon it will break.

Problem could to be the DMD Board,if picture freezes and you still have sound, On the Inside of the DMD board resolder the rectangler Ics on the short side.This has fixed some of the TVs that do this.
Heres another thing Have you Pull the Lamp and Looked inside to see if the Color Wheel is Ok? Pull Lamp out Then turn Tv on watch inside to see if color wheel turns it could shattered causing this.

Most likely a faulty power supply, any TV repair shop will be your easiest bet, or if your any good with electronics you could try and replace it yourself

Mine does the same thing. It makes a regular popping sound that does not change in level with the volume control. When the popping starts getting erratic the pixelated sound starts and in a short time the sound straightens out for the rest of the viewing time. However, the next time the cycle repeats itself. Did you find a fix?

If you had a pix before just a niosy color wheel then I would double check and make sure you have the right one for that engine. Next, re check all your connections. I hope you have the lamp door in place?
