Your idle air control valve looks like a small canister vacuum with a shark nozzle it's bolted to the intake right behind the throttle body and black snorkel straight in line with it go to rockauto.Com and look up your vehicle then go to fuel and air section and you'll find the valve with multiple pictures to see what it looks like

Also search ford 4.2 v6 engine pictures and you will see the snorkel connect to the throttle body the iac valve is at the 11 o clock position from the numbers 4.2l

Please Help ME by Remembering to RATE ME Thank you Vrey Much !!!

This vehicle does not use an external fuel tank switching valve. A supply check valve in the fuel pump assembly opens when the outlet pressure from the energized fuel pump exceeds the opposing check valve spring force.

R E C A L L 1991
THE DUAL FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVE MAY MALFUNCTION AND CAUSE AN OVERFILL CONDITION IN ONE OF THE FUEL TANKS, RESULTING IN AN OVERFLOW OF FUEL PAST THE FILLER CAP.
THE OVERFLOW OF FUEL PAST THE FILLER CAP CAUSES A FUEL LEAKAGE, WHICH CAN RESULT IN A FIRE WHEN EXPOSED TO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.
REPLACE THE DUAL FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVE.

SOURCE: IAC control valve. Locato\ion 2002 ford escape

If it's not idling and has problems starting, it's probably the IAC motor. It's located on the throttle body. Follow the airfilter box all the way to the engine, where the rubber flex hose attaches. The throttle body should be the first aluminum part you come to. Attached to the side you'll find small little aluminum part with a small wire harness attached. Unplug it, take the IAC motor off and clean inside with carb cleaner. This should fix the problem with the idle.

SOURCE: Failed inspection on 2004 Ford F150,heritage

Have you checked for any small vacuum leaks on any of the emissions hoses? A vacuum leak causes a "too lean" reading. If no leaks, you could have a malfunctioning emissions valve, bad oxygen sensor or fuel injection problem. First I would remove the spark plugs to see if they verify that you have a lean condition. Lean plugs will look white. Google for an image of what a lean burning plug looks like if you like. If they look like burning lean then proceed to trouble shoot each possible area. For example if only one plug shows lean but the others don't you know to look at the injector for only that one cylinder. So don't mix up which plug came from which cylinder.

SOURCE: Iac valve

The 04-08 MY F-150 do not have a IAC with throttle by wire.

The PCM operated the intake butterfly with a small stepper motor for both normal acceleration and to keep enough air in the system to allow the truck to idle correctly.

Need to know where the IAC sensor is located on a 2004 150 5.4

4.6L, 5.4L & 6.8L Engines
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the accelerator control splash shield.
  3. Remove the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connector.
  4. Disconnect the throttle bypass hose.
  5. Remove the mounting bolts and the IAC valve.
  6. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Tighten mounting bolts in two steps:
    • Step 1: to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)
    • Step 2: an additional 90°

Location of iac valve f150 5.4 triton

This particular vehicle does not have an IAC valve. This is because it is equipped with ETC (Electronic Throttle Control). This means there is no mechanical connection between the accelerator pedal and the throttle plate. Instead, the throttle plate is controlled by an electric motor to control its engine speed, based on "input" it receives from the PCM. The accelerator pedal is connected to three poteniometers. Two that increase, and one that decreases voltage in a particular proportion. If they fail, the vehicle goes into what's called a "forced idle" mode of operation. Hope this helps.

Mt 97 f150 is running rough and dropping to 500 rpm when put into gear. it has new plugs, fuel filter, and coil packs.

sounds like an IAC issue. I'd try cleaning it out with some brake cleaner, until it runs out clear, if is still does it try replacing the IAC valve.

P1506 Idle Air Control Overspeed Error

The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve adjusts the engine idle speed. The valve is located on the side of the throttle body. The valve is controlled by a duty cycle signal from the PCM and allows air to bypass the throttle plate in order to maintain the proper idle speed.

TESTING PROCEDURE

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the IAC valve.
  3. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the valve.

Due to the diode in the solenoid, place the ohmmeter positive lead on the emphasis type="medium" VPWR/emphasis terminal and the negative lead on the emphasis type="medium" ISC/emphasis terminal.
  1. Resistance should be 6-13 ohms.
  2. If resistance is not within specification, the valve may be faulty.
Please rate and god bless:)
