When it will not start with the key, is this a crank no start issue ?

If you turn the key from off to run ( do not start ) does the theft light on the cluster go out ?

If not, try a different key. I am working from an assumption that the PATS key is not registering with the HEC for some reason, this is why the try another key. The remote start has a PATS bypass

what color is the fluid -bright red or brown ??? if brown change the filter & oil-if it dont work then the clutch packs or servo needs replacing

Best advice is to get the key pad checked.

This usually means there is a transmission related fault. There is probably a error code stored, and your transmission may be in limp mode; usually 2nd gear only. I don't know if Autozone can read trans codes. This may be a dealer only repair. Have you checked your transmission fluid?

Important: Thoroughly wash all contaminants from around the electric hydraulic control unit (EHCU). The area around the EHCU MUST be free from loose dirt to prevent contamination of disassembled ABS components.
Disconnect the three electrical harness connectors from the electronic brake control module (EBCM).
Important: Make sure that brake lines are tagged and kept in order for proper reassembly.
Disconnect the 5 brake lines from the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV). When looking at the brake pipe port face of the BPMV, the ports are assigned as follows:
Upper Left--Left Front Output.
Upper Middle -- Right Front Output.
Upper Right--Rear Output.
Lower Left--Master Cylinder Secondary/Front Input.
Lower Right--Master Cylinder Primary/Front Input.

Check starter circuit, relay , starter

Any flashing lights on the overdrive button. Sounds like a messed up torque converter or a computer command to stay locked up randomly. It's just a clutch that uses fluid, but most now have a electrical controlled magnetic clutch to lock them up. If they are told (wrongly by the computer) they won't let go and will stall the motor, cause harsh shifts, etc. Diesels just won't stop with the power they make. Scan for codes.

To reset some v10 Ford's, you turn on the key (not motor) and push down the gas pedal 3-4 times to the floor and all the way up. Let's computer reset 100% on and 100% off. Dodges same.

Check the connections for power with a test light. If your getting power to the pump and it doesn't work then it is bad (new or not)

Needs a new multifunction switch on the column..

Flush torque converter and tranny flush. If you suspect that's the noise. Pump transmission

Most 98-99 have wind shield leaks that allowed rain to trickle in to the cpu wiring harness under dash. it will have to be cleaned or replaced

on the upper control arm bolts on the nut side there are different off set washers you use to change caster and camber.
