Samsung DVD-V9800 DVD Player/VCR Logo

I have a Samsung DVD V9800. Already recorded DVDs and VCRs play just fine, but I cannot seem to get the VCR to record. I can set the machine up to record at a certain time, then set the TV to the channel I want to record (which is in a different input screen from the one I set up to record on). I record only a blank screen. If I just press "record" while in the channel I want to record, I still get only a blank screen on playback. Can you help, please?

Did you finalize the disk? If not, this should solve your problem. When the disk is finalized you should be able to play it on your computer if you can play other DVDs on it. Some other DVD players can only play specific disks (i.e. DVD-R, DVD+R). This may be another problem.

SOURCE: Dvds recorded on Samsung will ONLY play on Samsung

Hi,

Have you finalised the disc before trying to play it elsewhere? If not this could well be the problem. The option is the menu.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: Can't switch from AV2 to AV1 with Samsung DVD-VR375 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

To be able to select AV1, you have to first go into the setup menu and set the control set top box setting to OFF. I think you go to the menu >> setup >> features >> set top box control >> select OFF. Note that this has the side effect of erasing any previously stored timer settings.

The manual for my DVD-V3500 says that you can't record from DVD to the VCR. But, can you record from the VCR to a DVD?

In short, no. Not with this unit on its own. No function for recording from or copying to DVDs exists with this brand/model.

A separate DVD recorder is required. I don't know of anyone who records DVDs to tape these days.

You are correct; the manual states clearly you cannot record from the DVD deck in this machine, which is a bit unusual, considering other brands of combos such as LG, SONY and PANASONIC offered an input (which was between channels or could be selected via remote) to allow DVD to VHS recording within the one unit.

I would presume you can connect this combo to the input of a DVD recorder, play a videotape and it will work via cables. DVDs last longer than tapes anyway.

I need help programming vcr to tape show

Since the V9800 has no built-in tuner, your TV set must be set to the channel your show to be taped is on. There is no way to tune it to any particular channel. Now, isn't that convenient?

Dmr-ES30V Dvd plays pre record movies fine but I

Try a different brand of blank dvd+r or -r. you will find that your dvd machine is fussy on what discs it plays. More exspensive dvd players are fussy with what dvd discs you put in, as cheaper dvd players would virtualy play most types of dvds.

Dvds recorded on video to dvd recorder wont play elsewhere

Mosr DVD recorders have a "compatible" setting or require you to "finalise" the disc. Check that is being done.

It's also worth checking that the laptop will play other DVDs sometimes you need a codec.

Region code 4 on Samsung DVD-VR355 player/recorder

I live in Australia and have two Samsung DVD/VCR player recorders, DVD-VR375 and DVD-VR355. I could only play Region 4 DVDs until I pressed DVD, with no DVD in the units, pressed Menu then 76884, then 9, inserted a Region 1 DVd and it played in both units.

Dubbing from vcr to vcr

Connect with RCA cable to RCA jacks\plugs::
output [player] audio to INPUT [recorder]
OUTPUT [player] Video to INPUT [recorder]
*************************************************
Place blank tape in RECORDER, Tape that you want to record from into PLAYER.Press Record [recorder machine], wait one second, press PAUSE.( thats to give record tape "breathing" space.) Set up your player tape to start playing. When you know what you want to record, press PAUSE again to begining recording. Press PAUSE after the recorded section to install 2nd tape, etc. etc.
NOTE:: some VCRs use PAUSE 2nd time to release and continue recording, while some machines you must press RECORD button again to release PAUSE. you must expirement before begining your project.

VCR will play, but not record.

You gotta connect the signal cable to the input of the vcr and in the output of the vcr other cable to the tv input, when you got to record some program you need put the channel number on the vcr not in the tv if you conect the vcr to the tv in the avinputs the tv will be in video mode, because the vcr receipt the signal.
Good luck
