Vertical lines on screen when viewing
If the lines are there all the time or intermittent but in the same location it is an indication of a bad panel. The panel driver can also be the cause of this symptom. Samsung panels have had issues with the connector that carries the LVDS signals to the panel itself, this is not serious and can be resolved and little cost.

Flashing black and white vertical lines
Vertical lines in the display indicate a failing screen. New screens are expensive and not worth the labor and parts charges to repair it. It's new monitor time.
Half the screen has picture and the other side is all black
lcd tv's screens are actually made up with 2 parts a left and a right side each having its own video feed with generates half of the image each and sincs them which to the viewer appears as 1 full screen. if your screen is missing half of the image and it is exactly occurring inn the middle of the screen them the video signal probably isn't making it to that half of the lcd. either the video board is falling or the ribbon connector from it to the lcd has failed or possibly the connection where it is attached to the lcd (which saddle isn't reparable and would require replacing the lcd panel) the first 2 mentioned are an easer/cheaper fix . you can usually check the lcd connection buy removing the back gaining access to the connectors and see if the image appears on the screen while applying pressure along point where the connection goes into the lcd. if it does then the connection had come loose and as far as i know theres no way to reattach it.

My remote control does not work at all. I have
If the problem does not lies with the remote control, it should be the problem of the infrared receiver on the television. IR receivers rarely breaks down, but it does.
There is no simple to way to change this (unless you're into soldering), so try using the buttons that came with the television instead, or get an exchange if it's still under warranty.
BLUE vertical line block screen
First of all, check boh ends of the cable connecting the laptop to the TV. Ensure that the plugs are fully inserted and the locking screws ae tightened.
Sometimes this symptom is also an indication of a bad circuit board inside the TV such as the LCD Controller Board (or TCON board).
Other times it is a problem with the LCD flat panel screen itself.
Depending on the model of TV, circuit board problems can occaisionally be repaired by finding a replacement board and swapping it out. However, second hand replacement boards can typically cost between $50 and $100 and don't come with any real warranty.
Problems with the flat panel screen itself are typically not economically feasible to repair.
Just to be certain, you should try out the TV in another display mode to see if the problem is consistent across all the available input sources.
Try hooking up a DVD player to the TV and changing the source to VIDEO and see if the problem is present there as well. If it is, then we know the problem is not with your laptop or with a loose cable connection between the laptop and the TV.
For a 15 inch model, the most economical solution is to buy a new TV.
Best of luck, sorry I don't have better news.
