Which way do the headlight vertical adjustments turn to raise the beam?

Turn on your headlights and locate the two adjustment holes that have the adjustment screws inside them on the sides of each headlight. The top hole has the vertical adjustment screw and the bottom hole has the horizontal adjustment screw. Turn the vertical screw clockwise to raise the beam and counterclockwise to lower; turn the horizontal screw clockwise to move the beam right and counterclockwise to move the beam left.

This could be the adjuster screw. Park you car close enough to a wall or any other reflective surface and "mark where the beam is hitting the surface, then try turning the screw and gauge which direction the light beam moves. Adjust it to suit.

in theory, the headlights are adjusted forward, and centered . so no matter where you drive the illumination should be the same. but there are adjustment screws on all vehicles. so i would say yes, if needed. the lights can be adjusted opposite with the turn of a screw

Head light adjustment 2004 optima

This is how to adjust 04 Optima headlights:

For all descriptions, assume that you are standing BEHIND the light assembly.

On the back of the headlight assembly you will see the bulb cover (round cover with tabs) stamped "OPEN" and an arrow showing which direction to turn to remove. Look toward the 8 o'clock position for driver lamp, 4 o'clock for passenger lamp of this cap. Partially obscured by the sheet metal you will see a black screw 3/4 exposed on the headlight assembly. It is at the edge of the sheet metal and very difficult to see, but it,s there. You may need to remove the assembly to get a better look. If needed, see below for lamp assembly removal.

How to remove the headlight: There are two 10mm bolts holding the assembly in place. One is above the headlight and the other one is between the headlight and the high beam light. Unplug the two harnesses that hook into the headlight, if needed, and it is ready to be removed the car. Gently work it out of position.

Take a Phillips screwdriver and turn the black screw - it adjusts the light vertically. Turn it counter-clockwise to make the light go up and clockwise to adjust down. Its as easy once you find the screw.

Adjusting headlights on a 2005 ford freestar

hello wwhampton,

open the hood, take a close look at your headlights, if it is a headlight assembly, there are two screws with big plastic heads on the back of the assembly, these are the adjusting screws. one for horizontal adjustment and the other one is for vertical adjustment.

if the headlight is a round or square ordinary bulb, the adjusting screws are located near the bulb itself, these are philips screws. one on the top and one on the side.

a suggestion; when adjusting headlights, face the car to a wall about 5 ft away and adjust the headlight.

tnx 4 using fixya.

Headlight installation

Hello, the Festiva headlights are very easy to replace, but you have to remove the sidemarker lamps and grill first. That is the trick to the job. I verified the procedure with my Festiva shop manual, so I am sure about it. To remove the side lamp, it has an arm in the upper left that you remove the screw from and then the screws on the outboard side of the side lamp. Once the grill is also removed, you can get to the headlamp holding bolts. Remove those. Then to get the headlamp free from the frame you need to remove the headlamp adjusting screws on the sides. Lastly, remove the wiring from the rear by turning the ring counter-clockwise. That's it. To reinstall the new one, do it in the reverse of the removal procedure. You will probably have to align the headlight beam or at least check it after installing the new headlight. It is adjusted with the headlight adjustment screws that change the angle of the headlight.
