SOURCE: Locked into progressive scan AND Setup is Unavailable
This solution will also work for GoldStar DVR1000! make sure no DVD or tapes are in the player press and hold stop button and it releases you from Progressive scan mode. After searching the web for hours for this model got desperate and was trying fixes for other brands and models, this one worked. Thanks koolanit

Sure that's easy, I read this in the manual:
http://tacpservice.toshiba.com/ConsumerProductSupport/Manual/dvd/SDK530.pdf
(Page 18 - Progressive Scan Section)
All you have to do is:
1. Remove the disc in the DVD/VCR.
2. Press and hold the STOP button for 5 seconds before releasing it. (Note that this is the stop button which is physically on the player.)
And that should pull you out of Progressive Scan Mode.

The progressive scan can work only throug progressive scan CTV.. while some of the newest DVD player today has a progrissive... now you must turn OFF the progressive scanof your DVD on the set-up menu to see the real screen display.

Are you pressing the Progressive Scan button on the front of the Player? You need to look at the BACK of the Player. There is a manual switch just below the words "LINE OUT". This needs to be moved to the left where it says "Normal"
Try this please!
