The range on Whirlpool Super Capacity 465 will not ignite

Although this oven has worked fine for 8 years or so, suddenly it does not spark and gas does not flow into the oven though the computer reads "preheat..." How does one troubleshoot this? Ken

I ordered the ignitor, popped it in and the oven works like new. Thanks so much for the help. I neglected to express my gratitude earlier, but I am very thankful. Ken

You need to replace the oven ignitor. This is located under the bottom pan of the oven. Take out the racks and then remove the 2 screws from the back section of the lower plate. Then you will find the ignitor. The ignitor may still get red but the ignitor has to draw enough current to open the gas valve. This is a very common problem. Replace the ignitor and this will fix your problem.

I have a whirlpool super capacity 465 stove tops work fine. the oven glow plug glows but it dosent light could the orfice be plugged.

Hello,

The problem with the oven not lighting believe it or not is going to be that the igniter is weak and not drawing the correct amount of power to allow the gas to flow.I know it would seem since the igniter comes on that it could not be the problem yet since it comes on to me a oven technician with 30 years experience the igniter is exactly what it is.

WHIRLPOOL Sup Cap 465 oven turns on for 3 sec, then shuts off

The flame sensor is dirty or bad.

When the unit does not sense flame after ignition, the gas valve shuts down the system.

They can become corroded or dirty, but usually just need to be replaced.

Contact whirlpool for warranty info. If the unit is under warranty, they should send you the parts for free. If not, they can direct you in how to order the part.

Whirlpool Accubake Super Capacity 465 gas range. Oven won't light

I just had my ignitor replaced. The ignitor glowed but it must pull a certain amount of amps before it will allow the gas valve to open. Once the ignitor starts glowing the gas should come on within 30 seconds. Now that I saw it done I realize it was something I could have done myself. Be sure the tech does not try to slip you a used ignitor as mine tried.

Whirlpool Accubake Super Capacity 465 gas range. Oven won't light

Some gas ranges may take 10 or so minutes to light.
Other than that you may have a defective glow bar ignitor.
If it glows and does not light the reistance in the ignitior has failed.

Whirlpool super capacity 465 gas range model# sf377pegq5

I have the same problem intermittently on my Super Cap 465. After reading the following quote from another site, "There have been cases where radio waves, electronic signals and sometimes something as strange as dimmers in lights have caused some weird problems with some computer panels in stoves like these", I tried turning off lights that might be on the same circuit and wouldn't you know it, the oven igniter circuit worked.
