I have a 1997 chevy c 1500 it starts and dies in 7 seconds what could the problem be

I have a 1997 chevy c1500 truck. I was ridding down the road and it dies slowly as if it was running out of gas. However, it had gas in it. I checked the fuel relay it was good, changed the fuel filter, checked the fuel pump it was good. The truck starts but it dies in 7 seconds. What could the problem be. [email protected]

You may have a spark problem. Hook up a remote spark tester and locate it where you can watch it . Watch to see if there is a lack of spark when the engine dies. Also hook up a remote fuel pressure tester and see what your fuel pressure is when the engine dies. If you lose spare I would look at the module in the distributor as the problem. If it fuel, it could be a weak pump or a restricted fuel line. Also , find someone with a scanner and have him read the codes. It could be that simple.

SOURCE: 97 chevy suburban wont start

try putting a dab of solder on each one of the contacts on the fuel pump relay. i had a similiar situation where the relay contacts in the fuse box got strectched out over time so i put a dab of solder on each terminal to beef the contacts up and it worked perfectly. i think this will work because if the mechanic put a wire jumper in the contacts then electrical it is fine.

SOURCE: will turn over but will not start

1999 sub,
turns over but will not start. Somewhat solved: there is a fuel line on the air cleaner side that is somewhat stomped up. When the hose is blown in and then reinserted, the truck starts. It will run for awhile but eventually it will clog again. Good luck.

SOURCE: Truck runs good than next day doesnt want to start, runs rough !

Change the plugs, and plug wires first before suspecting coils. Then if no change, suspect coils, and if still no change, suspect a fuel injector. If you have a check engine light lit, you may be able to get a code from the diag computer (can be read for free from autozone I think) that tells you the exact cylinder that's misfiring. Then you can narrow your suspected choices down and focus on that cyninder for the coil and injector.

After having problems getting 1997 chevy truck to go faster then 40-45mph i replaced the fuel pump, ran fine for little over a week. drove it couple days ago went to leave it started ran for couple seconds...

HELLO: It could be a frozen gas line and or stopped up filter, filter is on drivers side under the truck, looks like over sized small coke can with a connection on both ends. Thats the first place I would check.

1997 chevrolet c-1500 error codep0446

That code has do with the emissions evaporator control. You have a leak somewhere. You will ned to check all hoses to be sure that they are ok. Exactly which one, I could not be sure, but this will get you going in the right direction.
