Activision Rapala Pro Fishing for Windows Questions & Answers
Cant' play the game : Rap[ala Pro Fishing (Activision)
A. There is a known fix to the problem that you have experienced and if
you follow the instructions below, you will be able to resolve it. What
you're going to need to do is find the file called 'Console.cfg'. This
is located in your game's install folder (My Computer -> C:\Program
Files\ActivisionValue\MagicWand\Rapala\Rapala\Cfg) inside the \Cfg
folder. It might be easiest to just do a search from the start menu for
'Console.cfg'. Once you find that file, open it up with notepad or
wordpad.
You will see a series of lines, the 5th line says: "addvar r_windowed
int; r_windowed = 0". You're going to want to change that to: "addvar
r_windowed int; r_windowed = 1".
Towards the bottom of the file (scroll down) you'll see two lines:
"addvar rWaterReflect int; rWaterReflect = 1" and "addvar rWaterRefract
int; rWaterRefract = 1" . You're going to want to change those to:
"addvar rWaterReflect int; rWaterReflect = 0" and "addvar rWaterRefract
int; rWaterRefract = 0".
Make sure you save the file and that it asks you to replace it when you
save. Then you can start the game. It will not take up the whole
screen, but you can fix that by going into the options menu from the
main menu and increasing the resolution.
There is just black screen when i launch the game
1. Go to your game directory. For me it's:"E:\Program\Activision
Value\Magic Wand\Rapala\"
2. Go into the folder "Rapala" and then the folder "Movies"
3. Delete the two game companys intro video files. "Atvi" and "Magic
Wand".
4. Start the game from "Rapala.exe" in the "Bin" folder in the game
directory. OBS!!!! Do not start the game from any other shortcuts like
the one on your desktop because it will then reinstall those deleted
files.
Now the game will work as it should. At least for me it did.
Enjoy!

You could use a cheat:
Press “~” to bring down the console window and enter these cheats:
- All items in the tackle box: UnlockAllItems
- All fishing locations: UnlockAllTours
Press "~" again to resume the game.
I am having a problem.
Direct3D 6? Wow, the game must be way older than your computer. You probably installed DirectX 10 or later. There were major changes after DirectX 9. The software routines to manage graphics hardware acceleration through DirectX 10 or newer are probably very different from DirectX 6, so the game's graphic controller interface can't find them.
Try going into the game properties (right-click on the main executable file and select Properties from the pop-up menu).
Set it to run in XP compatibility mode and see what happens.
Check to see if the game has the option to run without hardware acceleration. If this provides acceptable performance, that is your answer.
If necessary (and if Microsoft still makes it available), try installing DirectX 6. Vista may snag on it and make you remove it and reinstall a newer version, but it's worth a shot if the other fixes don't work.
