There is probably a removable, plastic 'screen' in the bottom, cleaning area. It should either 'snap out', or have a squeezable clip, to remove it.... Beneath it MAY be your clog. Otherwise, it may be a more serious problem.....

Probably solenoide defect, remove the power first and then the cover, then you can ohm it out to see if it is shorted, replace if necessary

If it like other Mieles, it has an element to heat water if required to reach cleaning temperature, but does not have a drying element. Even then, it should give off some heat in the drying cycle and be hot after finishing.

Do like the others said. This is what I call the Miele Problem! This happens every year or two. Take off the outside front panel to access the hose that runs from the bottom of the fan down to the dispenser, and lets the water drain out through it to the interior. Clean out that hose as well as you can. Replace. This is a stupid problem that Miele should have a permanent fix for. Grrrr. In fact I just did this with mine today. The hose cleans out quickly, the problem is getting the front back on. 4 hands make it easier. It slips on when you start close to vertical, then slip in in and down. For putting the screws back in, you might have to use a micro screwdriver to re-align the little clips on the door panel. (You will see what I mean when you do it!) This costs a service call ($100, give or take) to call for service. It can be done at home with no added parts. I think it applies to all Miele dishwashers, and I have now done it several times. As I said before, this is a design fault and should not be necessary! If you have a helper to help contain the mess, you can spray water into the fan area (best is backward through the hose, but try all directions) and catch the runoff. We have done this and it catches a lot of gunk.muck and slop. Doggone design sucks on an otherwise nice machine!!

I had this happen too. There is a rubber venting tube which runs from the vent on the door to the rinse/powder release pods. This clogs up and the water then comes out when the door opens. If you take off the front panel of the machine (screws are on the sides) it is easy to take off and clean out by running hot water through it, also clean out the line through the release pods .. problem should be solved.

this is electrically activated and spring controlled and almost always the mechanism just needs cleaning particularly if you use a powder or tablet type detergent. you can try leaving the compartment open and running a few cycles without any detergent to help clean it up,otherwise you will have to take that piece apart and clean it up by hand. also check the electrical connection to this part. A bit of moisture to it will cause corrosion also causing it not to work.

Good to know that you want to keep this dishwasher as I believe it can be fixed. After reading your question the problem seems to be with the Timer that is bad and needs replacement. Every other part of the unit seems to be working properly, so you can check the timer motor and replace if bad. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
