Hi! My name is Tom. I did a tune up on my 1987 Chevy S10 Pick-Up truck,( smaller engine ) it's a V-6, but the idle is fast now. I'm thinking of adjusting the idle set screw, or the air and gas adjustments on the carberator. I can't remember where they are located on the carburetor???. What do you think? I 've done this years ago, but can't remember where there located. I don't want to screw it up. -:). I've got enough problems. Thanks for your time and help! My email address is: [email protected] Sincerely! Tom

Idle set is at the side of carb on linkage. it is mechanical adjust....mixture is not mechanical but directly changes the mix of fuel to air.

SOURCE: check engine light on chevy s10 pick up will come

Have you had to add oil? The fact that it comes on going up hill would suggest it's the oil level.

SOURCE: what is the right tuning

no tuning can be done as its all fixed jets apart from the idle which can be adjusted to a CO2 level less than 2% for the emmisions on the annual vehicle mechanical inspection

My Chevy S10 2.8 idles fast in cold weather. What can I do?

Sounds like the fast idle screw needs to be adjusted on the throttle body or if it has an IAC, it may need to be replaced. A little more info on the vehicle might help to narrow it down.

1987 chevy s10 pick up sputters in low speed. i changed fuel filter, plugs and wires. I put octaine booster, and did feul and jet cleaner. im out of ideas.

converter clogged? does it run good at other than slow speeds?, carb or spray nozzles ? if Spray nozzles check using multimeter , find the test online for the right values , if carb , may need rebuilt, try adding a little more advance from distributor, may help with pick up.

Need to remove oil pan on 1987 chevy s10 2.8l 4x4 four speed

in order to get the oil pan off of a 4 w/d model the front axle assy must be removed first then oil pan removal is straight forward after that. cv axles can be left in just need to take out the 6 bolts on each one drain oil out remove the cable engagement on the bottom wire plug and 4 mounting bolts. rotate assy to remove it. the other way is to remove the engine. take your pick.

Chevy S10 Pick 1995 - Sputters and almost stalls when accelerating.

You could have a dirty EGR valve, you can re move it from the manifold and clean it with Throttle body cleaner. Might as well buy two cans, since your cleaning the EGR, might as well clean out the throttle body too.
Spray the throttle body cleaner in to the throttle body with the engine running and try to keep it at 1000 rpm and then to 1500 rpm as you clean out the throttle body and let it idle down for 2 min then turn the engine off. Then turn the engine to the run position for 10 seconds and start and let idle, ro for a test drive and hope that solved the problem, if not there a few more things we can do which will consist for tune up.
Note: Clean the EGR first so you don't burn your self since the engine would still be cool before you clean the Throttle body.
Good luck and keep me posted.

Idles to fast

Sounds like a vaccum leak at the throttle body or the intake. check for loose lines hissing with the motor running. Had a brake booster line come loose on my 92 and it ran at about 3000 rpms.
