You got it, bad coil.

Testimonial: "Thank you.Could moisture on the coil pack have caused this problem as it has gotten colder of late?"

#2 cylinder misfiring why?

Usually if you know which cylinder, you check spark--fuel--compression on that cylinder.
You could do cylinder balance test, engine idling, kill each cylinder, one at a time. If you kill a cylinder that has no effect on rpms, that cylinder is dead for some reason, spark--fuel--compression?
I usually kill spark and do it quickly.

Cylinder #1 continues to Misfire

What DTC code(s) are you getting?
You performed a compression test on cylinder #1; did you test cylinder #2?
Compare the readings, if there is a significant difference in compression readings between the two, you may have a bad head gasket, a bad valve, etc.
The bottom line, the problem is internal to the engine.

Replacement Spark Plugs Continually Misfiring for Cyl. #1

Locate the ignition coils - they are mounted on the ignition module. Remove the wide connector that goes to the module. You will have to unscrew it first. Spray some WD40 on the connector pins and try to scrub them with a tip of a small screwdriver. Be delicate not to brake or bend anything. Reconnect the connector. Start the engine and see if it still misses.
If it still does, try to touch/move each of the wires that go to the ignition module. BE VERY CAREFUL not to touch any of the moving parts of the engine as you have to do it with engine running.

If it still misses, do the following.
1. Engine off
2. Mark the ignition wires so that you reconnect them later in the same order
3. Locate the coil which gives spark for cyl 1
4. Switch locations of this coil with any of the two remaining coils
5. Reconnect the wires
6. Start the engine

If it now misses on another cylinder, you will have to buy a new coil.

Your misfire can be cause by couple of things but the cheapest way that you can try to fix your car is to do a tune up by replacing:
1)all spark plugs
2)do a oil change
3)spark plug wires
3)distributor cap and rotor

note misfire can be cause by:
1.bad gas
2.spark plug and/or wire
3.distributor cap and/or rotor
4.valve adjustment
5.injector
6.off timing
7.ECM
8.bad wiring(power, ground or feed line)

I started having a problem about a month ago. My 2003 Mercury Grand marquis LSE tuned up at 100k currently 145k. started hesitating and slight bucking at cruise speed. I went to autozone and coded #8...

A misfire can be related to a number of causes. Since the coil and spark plug were replaced and it did not solve this issue, it is most likely related to the circuit for the number 8 cylinder. A thorough inspection of the electrical circuit is what is required next. Also, engine compression will need to be tested on that cylinder as well as cylinder number 6 that is next to it. Vacuum leak around the intake port of the number 8 cylinder could also be a cause and will need to be checked.

I've a problem with misfiring in # 5 cylinder -combustion failure

1. Swap two ignition coils between #5 cylinder and another one.
2. If the #5 cylinder misfire problem is still present you must check up wire by wire the electrical supply cable from the Engine Control Module (ECM) to the #5 ignition coil. Repair damaged wire(s). The last piece out of order will be the ECM !
3. Inspect also #5 spark plug if it is wet or dry. If it is dry then you must verify the #5 injector!
