My Adf its not working properly it scan only half of page.

This is simple. There are a bunch of sensors in the adf that read the paper size. Your adf is telling the copier that your copying 8.5x5.5 that's when the copier blanks out the rest of your page. So do u have any scrap of paper or sensor that is blocked they have spring loaded flags on them sometimes the spring will fall off and cause this so look very carefully and you will find the little sensor that is causing your problem. Also there are photo sencors that get dusty. So use canned air to clean them out but be careful you could knock off the springs on the flags with air.

Error message with canon mx410 "cannot scan from adf"

I fixed this by changing the Copy Intensity from Auto to Manual
I had the same paper jam (caused by pressing Stop during a page going into the ADF), but I had pressed OK as instructed and the page was auto fed back out again. Then I couldnt copy from ADF after that.
I tried everything, and then started to retrace my steps of all the things I might have tinkered with to try and get the copying working in the first place, before the paper jam.
Then I remembered I had set the Copy Intensity from Manual to Auto (thinking Auto is always best). With hindsight, it now makes sense for it to be manual with the ADF as otherwise how would it load a page, use it to set auto density, and then reload it again for the actual copy to occur. This happens okay on the flatbed scanner as it can scan a little, work out the settings, and then scan for real.
Copy Intensity is reached on my Canon MX from the Menu button at the bottom left of the front panel. - Then press the right arrow twice to get to Color Intensity. - Hit OK. - Then right arrow from "Auto" to "Manual Adjust"- Then pick a setting or leave it as half-way between light and dark- Press OK
Now every time my ADF copying works a treat. Thats what I get for tinkering in things I didn't need to change in the first place. I was just trying to get a quick copy going from ADF to paper without saving a file up on the computer and then printing.

Scanner leaving black streaks

There are two possible fixes.

Download the latest firmware update by CLICKING HERE

The following is provided by courtesy of Lexmark:
Problem Vertical lines; Auto document feeder scan anomaly; ADF scanning problem; Scan issue; Scanner issue; Visible line; Streaks show on page; solid line down the page; Top to bottom line; Smudge runs down the page; Opaque line; Broken line; Bar all the way down the page Solution Overview

This article provides the self-diagnostic steps necessary to evaluate top-to-bottom streaks that appear when copying or scanning.

Important! This is seldom a scanner hardware failure.

The main reason for this anomaly is debris or marks on the scanner glass that is used for Auto document feeder (ADF) page scans.

Printed or Scanned Page Illustration

copyvertstreaks.jpg

Who should consider this article?

Any user of an MFP or All-In-One printer experiencing the following symptoms:

  • -Vertical lines only when using the Autodocument Feeder (ADF).
  • -Observed with any type of scan job (e-mail, ftp, solutions, fax).
  • -However, normal expected output when the page is scanned from the scanner flatbed.

ADF scan behavior

Think of it this way:

  • -The page is pulled from the ADF.
  • -The moving page slides across an ADF-designated portion of glass.
  • -The image sensor, which is located under the glass, reads and interprets the moving page's contents.
  • -Contamination on this ADF glass is seen by the image sensor for the entire length of the page.
  • -The image processor interprets the image sensor's repeated capture of this contamination as a vertical solid line.
  • -Any ADF scan function now exhibits a vertical line.

Suggested Diagnosis and Fix

Step Action 1 Locate the portion of the glass designated for ADF scans.
HINT: The glass location differs by model. This area is often separate from the scanner flatbed. Please reference User's Guide for more information if you are having a difficult time locating this designated area.
2 Perform a visual inspection for any of the following recurring culprits:

  • -Clear adhesive tape
  • -Glue
  • -Ink pen
  • -Paper
  • -Marker
  • -White out
  • -Staples
  • -Environmental dust or dirt
HINT: Ink marks can be especially hard to see and almost translucent at first sight. However, the image sensor (CCD) registers them as a mark. 3 Use a clean, soft, moistened cloth to thoroughly clean and remove any marks or debris. 4 Inspect the underbelly or underside of the ADF for any marks or debris. 5 Perform another scan to see if cleaning the glass alleviated the issue. 6 Repeat the procedure if a vertical line still appears.
Remember! Printing and scanning from the scanner flatbed work fine.
7 This time, place an intentional mark on a blank sheet of paper and take note of its location. Now place that sheet of paper in the ADF and make a copy.
8 Evaluate the distance of the vertical line to the your mark. 9 Inspect that area of the glass for further debris or marks and clean as necessary.

Need user manual and software for a HP ScanJet 4p scanner

HI...................

HP ScanJet 4p Scanners - How to Use the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) gtabseps.gif
gtabblt.gif Tips for Using gtabblt.gif Step 1 - Load the Paper gtabblt.gif Step 2 - Scan the Document gtabblt.gif To Scan a Single Page gtabseps.gif Tips for Using
  • Remove any paper from the copyboard glass before using the ADF.
  • Straighten any curls or wrinkles from documents before putting them on the document tray. If this is not possible, do not scan these documents using the ADF. Instead, use the copyboard glass or make a photocopy of the documents and scan the photocopies.
  • Remove staples, paper clips, and any other materials from documents.
  • Avoid documents with tears, perforations, or punch holes.
  • Do not use the ADF to scan sheets of uncommon paper or other media, such as the following: - transparencies - gummed-backed paper - magazine pages - lightweight ("onionskin") carbons
  • For paper smaller than 5 inches (127 mm) by 7 inches (178 mm) or larger than 14 inches (356 mm) by 8.5 inches (216 mm), use the scanner glass instead of the ADF. Paper smaller than the minimum size may cause a paper jam.
  • For paper lighter than 16 lb bond (60 g/m sq) or heavier than 32 lb bond (120 g/m sq), use the scanner glass instead of the ADF.
  • Before scanning, always push the front of the ADF downward to the scanner to ensure that the magnetic latches are engaged.
Step 1 - Load the Paper Besides the instructions below, quick reference decals on the input tray and access hatch show the order of steps for paper loading.
  1. Turn on the scanner.
  2. Ensure the scanner's scanner glass is free of paper.
  3. Turn the green paper load lever into an upright and open position. Refer to decal number 1 located on the ADF access hatch.
  4. Put the top end of the paper stack face up on the input tray. Refer to decal number 2 and pointer arrows on the ADF input tray.
  5. Push the paper stack up against the green document guide and slide it right against the green registration stop, which is in the middle of the paper load window.
  6. Turn the green paper load lever 45 degrees into the closed position. This will secure the paper stack. Refer to decal number 3 on the ADF access hatch. The ADF is now loaded and ready for scanning.
Step 2 - Scan the Document The ADF works with many software packages that are compatible with the HP ScanJet color scanners. To scan a document, refer to the user's manual of the software package being used. To Scan a Single Page To scan a single page while the ADF is installed on the scanner, do the following.
  1. Remove any pages from the ADF input tray.
  2. Raise the ADF.
  3. Place the page on the scanner's copyboard glass.
  4. Lower the ADF all the way and do the scan.

Hello I just figuered out this problem. When the paper is feed thru the ADF ( Automatic Document Feeder ) there is a plastic piece with a plastic film. Check to see if #1 that plastic film is clean and #2 That the Film is not bent and created a crease which is the line that shows when try to print or scan using the ADF. Hope this helps

How do I scan more than one page at a time

Hi there,
To scan more than one page at a time you can use ADF.
The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) can scan multiple pages, including duplex pages. When using the ADF:
* Load the document into the ADF faceup, short edge first.
* Load up to 50 sheets of plain paper into the ADF input tray.
*Scan sizes from 148 x 210 mm (5.8 x 8.3 in.) to 215.9 to 355.6mm (8.5 x 14 in.).
* Scan documents with mixed page sizes (letter and legal).
*Scan media weights from 52 to 120 g/m2 (14 to 32 lb ).
* Do not load post cards, photos, small items, transparency, photo paper or the thin media (such as magazine clippings) into the ADF. Place these items on the scanner glass.

Hope this helps. Please rate my response.
Thanks
Have a good day.

Ricoh 1027 ADF grabs multiple pages causing adf jam

you need to replace the lower of 3 rollers in the ADF (sep roller), for a temp fix you can clean this roller with wd40 as it will soften the rubber and get it to "grip". these rollers (lower of three) are always the first to go "bald on any mnf copier in the ADF and Drawers causing multiple feeding. they are used to allow one page at a time as they either turn backwards or offer torque (resistance) to lower pages

Scanner excludes front page

This is not the only solution, but this might help.

Put a blank page in as the first page and see if all of your documents scan completely.

You may need to clean the ADF. Try the following:

Cleaning the Automatic Document Feeder
You may need to clean the ADF feed mechanism if your
documents do not feed easily into the ADF, or several feed in at the
same time.
To clean the ADF:
1. Dampen a soft cloth with some isopropyl rubbing alcohol
(95%).
2. Press the ADF cover release on the top left of the scanner body
to open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
3. Wipe the feed roller from side to side. Rotate the roller to clean
its entire surface.
4. Wipe the pad from top to bottom. Be careful not to snag the
cloth on the springs on either side of the pad.
5. Close the cover when you’re finished.
NOTE: Please be careful when cleaning the roller. The roller is
designed to rotate in one direction only. As you’re cleaning the
roller, make sure it rotates easily, and continue rotating it in that
direction while wiping it clean. Do NOT force the roller to rotate
in the opposite direction. Forcing the roller to rotate will damage
it, and may cause the scanner to feed pages incorrectly.

Please let me know if this has helped and thank you. Binary Bob

ADF not working for TWAIN APIs

I need a little more description. Does the ADF handles the first page, or no page at all? Keep in mind that Samsung designs its own scanning application (SmartThru). Also check that the connection (parallel or USB) is correctly configured on your app.
