I have a toro 3450 snowblower and it is going to full throttle when it starts and stays there. When I tuch the lever on the carb it comes back down to idle but not until I manually touch it. When I shut it off it goes to full throttle so when I restart it is screaming again. What causes this?

Sounds like the adjustments need to be worked on outside the carb. If they are dry put a little bit of light oil or even WD40 on all the moving parts on the carb. Sometimes they just get dry and a little rusty from sitting.

SOURCE: i have a toro ccr 3650 snowblower the electric start just grinds

This problem has been solved! I took the covers off the machine, removed the starter and eventually replaced the drive. Apparently the drive parts were put on back ordered and took about 4 weeks to get the drive set. One thing I suggest if anyone does this is to look at the fly wheel to insure it's in good working order. The dealer I worked with said often that is chewed up (the teeth on the fly wheel) and leads to a bigger headache. Fortunately mine was just fine. The machine now works likes like new as I put in a new spark plug as well!

SOURCE: toro recycler will run until primed gas is consumed.

The problem is that the gas that sat in the carb all winter glazed it over and gummed it up. Begin by going to any auto parts store, like an aiutozone, and getting a bottle of carb. cleaner. Seafoam is one I use. Add it to your gas, one ounce per gallon of gas. Also, pick up a can of engine starting spray.

Remove the air filter and spray the engine starting spray into the air intake. Pull start the engine and give it additional squirts of engine starting spray until it runs smoothly.

SOURCE: toro 521 snowblower..nn replace gas line to carb,

Or, you can try the easy approach. Take a 1/4" bolt about 2" long and cutoff the head. Force the bolt into the old fuel line on the fuel tank side (after removing fuel tank), push other end into new fuel line, tape the lines together well with electrical tape. Gently pull from one side and push from the other until new section of line comes through. Just did this and it too all of 5 minutes.

Why does throttle go full speed when stsrted an stays full throttle

Hi Paul:
I'd check the throttle linkage at the carb.
It may be that it is not connected or a return/governor spring has come loose.
With the engine off, check the functions at the carb when the throttle lever is moved back and forth between the slow and fast positions.
Odds are pretty good that you will find a location in the mechanism where the linkage movement does not perform the intended function.
Cheerfuls.

Snowblower leaks gas on garage floor

Is it coming from the carb or tank? Either way replace the fuel lines, they crack an get pin holes in them an cause problems. If it comes from the carb get a rebuild kit an, very cheap, an replace the seals.

Engine speed surges up and down

Keith:

First check for the obvious... fresh fuel? clean air filter? carburetor mounting bolts/nuts tight? cylinder head bolts tight? crank case bolts/nuts tight?

Now to adjust the governor:
Find where the governor shaft comes out of the engine... loosen the nut and bolt on the governor arm clamp (where the governor arm clamps to the governor shaft). Gently pull the governor arm back until it stops, Gently turn the governor shaft the same way (some have a slot for a screwdriver or a hex-head for a nut driver to hold the shaft at it's closed position) as you pull the governor arm. Both the arm and the shaft must be at their full stop of travel while you tighten the governor arm clamp. It may take another person to lend a hand to keep the governor arm at the closed position while you tighten the clamp.

My Toro GTS LV195EA 362003C is starting, but not staying running. I cleaned the carb, replaced the spark plug and filter, and have tried to adjust the govenor and bowl nut on carb, but the throttle and...

Engine surge is usually caused by one of two things...
1) a lean condition. Not getting enough fuel.
2) throttle plate shaft in carb is worn. usually clears up when engine is put under a load. You can live with it or replace the carb

Toro snowblower///// tecumseh# on motor is H35-45598R SER 5283B

Usually that is a sign of the carb not being adjusted right. Run it at full throttle and adjust the main mixture needle (usually on the bottom) until it runs the smoothest. Set it in the middle of the range where it runs smooth. Then set it down to idle and adjust the idle mixture until it runs smooth at idle. Accelerate it rapidly and if it bogs or hesitates turn the idle mixture a little leaner (clockwise) and try again until it works right. That should get you very close. Try tweaking it a bit from there. as the microscopic specks clean out of it, it may need more adjusting.

How do you start a new toro 6.5 hp lawn mower. I borrowed it from my neighbor, but it has 2 levers to pull back. I'm clueless!

One lever is to make it go - wheels will turn & pull the mower..
The other lever is to keep it running - it this lever is released it will shut off..
This is the lever you need to keep pushed for it to start..

When starting - there should be a rubber push button on the engine near the carb.. Push it 4 times before starting.. This pumps gas into the carb for quick starts.. Good luck ;o)

Honda snowblower engine hunting

Sounds like you are hitting the governor. Watch the arms at the carb when you move it to full throttle. The arm should hit a screw. Turn this screw clockwise, until the reving stops.
