Line across the screen

Hi whenever i turn my 83 plus on it doesnt work. it jus has a line across the screen does that mean it is broking?

The same thing happened to me. if you dropped it, than the ink inside the calculator has probably broken and need to get it repaired

If it's just a single line then it sounds like that the screen is not connected probably or is shot...

if it's more of a "flurry" or snow... then you can connect to another unit via the I/O cable or usb if your model has it, and use the "send OS" command to start from scratch and lose all data but have a working calculator.

You've got the split-screen turned on. To turn it off, press MODE to open the mode screen. Use the arrow-keys to move to the second-to-the-last line, highlight "FULL," and press ENTER. Press 2ND [QUIT] to exit the mode screen.

You probably have your calculator set to display the graph on the home screen. Try pressing MODE and going to the last option, then changing it from "Horiz" to "Full". "Horiz" means it is displaying the graph (probably without axes since your screen is otherwise blank) on half the screen.

Hello,
Well, if screen shows the RAM CLEARED message, that means your calculator is working. Just press the [CLEAR] key, message will be erased and you are ready to crunch numbers.

Problem with my TI-83 plus silver ed.RIgthside screen doesnt work
Hello,
Here is a horizontaly split sceen. Lower oart is normal working scree. The upper part is for the gpahic screen, but I entered no function to plot. In the image the focus is onthe graph screen, hence no blinking cursor in lower (normal entry) screen.

All these are artificially created behaviors. That is why we often suggest to reset ALL RAM or reset the defaults.

Hi,

This means both your Xscl and Yscl values are too small. Fix this on the WINDOW screen, as explained under My screen is covered with horizontal or vertical lines.

Calculator Stuck
Hi. I suspect your calculator BIOS is corrupted. Still looking for the download for that though. Do you have a USB link cable? If so, plug in your calc and check your device information. See if anything comes up.
