My SHARP AQUOS LC-52LE830U won't turn on. Wife says she heard a sizzle and it went off.

Have unplugged it for a minute and plugged it back in, and I have checked the power supply as well as the cable connections.

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

LCD/Plasma Electronic Replacement Parts: Plasma & LCD TVs, Appliances |

On LCD Pay particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.

On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.

On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.

SOURCE: power supply bad on Sharp Aquos LC - bad board - schematic to ID?

Buy the green light going on means Standby is ok. Next, would be to locate the plug coming from the main board to the power supply and find the post that says PO which means power on. With your meter on that post, press the power button as see if the reading goes High, if it does then the main board is able to turn on the power supply. Next, find the plug on the power supply that goes to the inverter( the long board on the side) remove it and see if you have 24 volts coming out of the power supply when you press the power. If you do, then the inverter board is bad, if you don't have 24 v, then the power supply is bad. There are NO diagrams available for these set other than a flow chart if you can find one. A regular svc tech does'nt need a manual for these anyway.

Let me know how you do Kathy ?

SOURCE: sharp lc-22sv6u won,t power on. no green light.

Sound like the TV is in protection mode. This happens when a part goes bad inside. the TV turns OFF to protect the other parts from being damaged.
Most commonly it's a power supply related issue. A bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board is to blame.
For a do-it-yourself fixer with electronic experience, a Service Manual is the best for trouble shooting the problem down to the bad part. Normally, you can find it over the internet for less than $20.

SOURCE: If my Sharp Aquos 37in LC-40C37U tv needs to be

Blinking light is an error code. Count the blinks before they repeat. Check your manual in the troubleshooting section. If you can't find it, contact a Sharp service center or try and get a service manual. Reset info is also in the user manual but you can't do it if your set doesn't power up. Are you sure about the power board?

Testimonial: "Thank you. I will get another board."

Lcd sharp tv flashing green light

Try unplugging the unit and while unit is unplugged hold the volume up button and channel down buttons down and while depressing both buttons plug the unit in. Let go of the buttons and the unit should come on in the service mode. There will be a small k on the screen. With the sharp remote press the channel up button once. This should bring up a menu that will show a lamp error line. If the lamp error is = to 5 the unit is in lamp error shut down. User channel down to highlight that line and curser right arrow to highlight the lamp error #. Hit the enter button to clear the lamp errors. Now unplug the unit and let it sit for a minute and plug back in. I hope this corrects the problem. If the unit does not come on by doing this or if it does and you do not find lamp errors the power supply pcb may have been damaged by the surge.

Sharp LCD LC-46D64U

Try resetting the TV. Here's how to do it - Unplug the TV's power cable. Keep the Channel Down and Volume Up buttons on the TV pressed and plug the power cable back into the outlet. You will hear a click when you plug it back in if the reset is successful. Hopefully this should restore your video and audio.
