SOURCE: how do I remove the agitator?
Technically, the agitator should just pull straight up and off. Realistically, that just might not be that easy. There is an agitator puller. If you take the small plastic cap off the top of the agitator (if it is still there) you then slip a metal ring over the top of the agitator and tighten down three set screws into the plastic on the side of the agitator, near the top. (biteing into the plastic, but not enough to crack the agitator) Then, a pull collar is hooked over the edges of the pull collar and the center of the puller goes right down the center of the agitator (right on the center of the transmission shaft) Perhaps you could fashion your own pull collar. Your machine is well over the average life of a washer, so I wouldn't worry too much about damage to it. It may be time to invest in a new machine soon. Please don't bother rating, as anything but a Fix-Ya drops my score. Good luck with your repair.

Possible there is no power to the motor at the cycle of spinning or agitation. It is possible that the program controller unit is a suspect, you need to use a multimeter to confirm the case as the power to the motor could be measured
