This is usually an indication that the control board has failed. The part is no longer made, if you cannot find someone to repair the control board at the component level, it is time to replace the whole dryer.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Gold Dryer

You will need a volt Volt-Ohm (VOM) reader to fix this problem.
This doesn't rquire sound technical knowledge for this but you should be good at following some instructions.
This could be the effect of a number of problems. Here's a list of things to check and details on how to do it.

  • Fuse could be bad -- Check the fuse for a break inside. If it’s bad, replace it with an identical fuse.
  • Temperature switch could be bad -- Use VOM to check the switch. Set VOM to RX1, remove leads and touch the probes to the switch's terminals. The reading should be zero or infinity. Turn the switch, and the reading should change from zero to infinity or infinity to zero. If not, the switch is bad.
  • Thermostat could be bad -- Set the VOM to RX1, take a lead off one of the two outside terminals and press the probes to the two outside terminals. There should be a reading of zero. If not, it's bad.
  • Heating coils may be bad -- Set the VOM to RX1 and remove the leads from the coil. Press the probes to the terminals. If the reading is zero, the coil is bad.
  • Timer could be bad -- Disconnect the leads from the motor. Set the VOM to RX100. Clip the probes onto the leads. If the reading is infinity, the timer motor is bad.

SOURCE: Door opens alittle then closes but not back all the way

If you have a Chraftsman/Liftmaster:
1.Check to see if the door is running correctly.
A. Run the door down and pull the emergency release. See if the door will run easily by itself.
1. If it runs hard by hand try lubricating the rollers and hinges with silicone spray or some form of lubricant (not WD 40)
2. If the door is heavy and falls back to the ground, you probably have a spring issue (either broken or needs more tension) in this case call a professional door repair company in your area.
B. If the door runs fine then check the up and down force on your operator (the box that hangs from the ceiling and reads Craftsman). If the light(s) on your operator go from front and/or back, the force adjustment screw is on the back of the operator. If the lights are on the sides of the operator then the force adjustment screw is on the right side (looking from the back of the operator and facing the garage door). Turn the light blue adjustment screw with the up arrow to a higher number.
C. If this does not solve your problem the top bushing could be going out of your operator. Open the case and see if a lot of black filings are on the top of the big gear. If so the gear assy. will have to be replaced part # 41C4220A

SOURCE: dryer stops when I release push to start button

Timer may need to be replaced. You can test it with an ohmmeter or test light.
You can do the same with the push button. If you have more problems, then the main control could be faulty

How do I Close the door on my Bosch WTL 500 dryer

Push it closed.. I guess you mean that the door wont stay closed?? If so, the door latch has probably broken. Either the tongue on the door itself or the latch on the cabinet.

Door is ajar message when shut light comes on but doesnt run

That's because the door switch isn't getting pushed when you're closing the dryer door for some reason or another. Its located at the top of the door. Try pushing the switch by hand and seeing if the light shuts off when you manually push it.

My dryer makes a buzzing noise when I push the start button

My Hotpoint dryer is seven years old and did the exact same thing. When I got over the anger and the thought of spending 4 or 5 hundred dollars to replace it I started messing with it. I finally decided that since it buzzed when I tried to start it there was current there. The only other thing it could be was the drying cycle knob.
I held the start knob and let it buzz while I slowly turned the dryer cycle knob to the right. As I turned through each cycle it would hit "off" and the buzzing would stop and then resume as I moved past the "off " setting. On the third trip around the dryer "started" and has been working since. Maybe something got out of kilter. Apparently the problem was in the knob that controls the drying cycles.

Dryer not starting

Luckily, these units usually have a wiring schematic on the back, if not google it. The first thing on a washer or dryer to fail is the door switch. It's easy to replace or bypass. After that the start button itself may be bad. Follow the circuit, be careful. Use a continuity meter that beeps to check stuff. You mention a light. That means the door switch controls the light and the dryer, there will be a normally open leg and a normally closed leg. Good luck.

Dryer light stays on , won't start just keeps beebing....

Your door switch is broken (push button switch on the door frame). Without the switch engaging properly, the dryer light will continue to stay on and the dryer will not start. You will need to replace your door switch.

3 beeps and lights flash when I push the start button

The door is not compltely closing. Make sure to push it in hard around the clasp areas. If yours has a light, the light should turn off and on as you open and close the door.

Need help with OLD dryer

IF YOU MEAN THAT THE DRYER STARTS BACK UP WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR, THE PUSH TO START SWITCH IS SHORTED. CHECK TO SEE IF THE PUSH TO START BUTTON IS STUCK PRESSED IN AND NOT SPRINGING BACK OUT.
IF IT IS STUCK, TRY WD-40 TO LOOSTEN IT. OTHERWISE, REPLACE THE SWITCH.

IF THE DRYER KEEPS RUNNING WHEN YOU "OPEN" THE DOOR, THE DOOR SWITCH IS SHORTED. REPLACE THE DOOR SWITCH.
