Could be that the thermo coupler is failing. Look where the pilot light is directed and you will see a tube like device that has a copper hard line connected to the main gas reducer. All you need to do is buy another one for your unit and install it. You have to hold the pilot start for a few minutes to reactivate the new one. Simple repair if that is the problem.

SOURCE: flames burn then die down

it sounds like you may have a dirty pilot tube or a weak pressure regulator. I would try blowing out the pilot tube to make sure it is clear and if that does not work then replace the regulator.

SOURCE: car randomly dies at stop lights

That would be a vaccum leak somewhere along the system. Listen for a whistle if you can hear it. Hard to say where your problem lies but it is a vaccum leak.

SOURCE: gas logs while turned on seem to fade, nearly go

you must keep the burner and the pilot light area clean and free of dust also, the area where your burner gets air most of the time it has an adjustment to give it more or less air.I have had my dyna glo vent free model for 8 years.A good cleaning in late fall with low pressure air and 1 or 2 times through the winter depending on conditions of use.

SOURCE: I have a Peterson Real-Frye

First off, operating a VF gaslog more than 10K BTU in a bedroom is illegal and against code, mainly because it is considered a confined space. What's happening is the ODS (Oxygen Depletion Switch) is shutting down the unit due to lack of combuston air. PLEASE DO NOT OPERATE!!! For your own safety, replace it with a Peterson Valley Oak (VOG8-**R-12) or even an Empire Flint Hill (VFDR-18LB-10) before you possibly asphyxiate yourself...

Yellow flame means a 'not perfect' mix of gas and air. As long as it goes blue, then it's fine.

We have a house that has a gas fireplace. There are no logs in the fireplace. It has where we can see the gas comes in in a U shaped pipe with rack What type of logs would we need and how does it work?

You would need ceramic gas fireplace logs, fake logs that work by helping display the real flames, plus radiating heat with their hot surface. Most require venting, the same as real wood.

I have mislaid the instructions for my Genesis Miami gas fire, and need to relay the ceramic logs. can anyone please help?

This will depend on whether the fireplace is vented or is vent-free. Vent-free gas fireplaces are sold as a kit with the valve, burner, media (logs, glass, shapes, etc) all designed for a particular placement to work together to reduce dangerous chemicals. A vent-free burner and valve cannot have the logs removed and replaced with some other type of ceramic gas log because the exact placement of the logs is designed around the ports in the burner where the flames rise to minimize carbon created from the flames touching the logs.

If your fireplace is vented then the pull of the flue will remove dangerous fumes created by the same placement so there are no rules about re-arranging or replacing "media". If the fireplace is vented then you could use other log-placement-guides to identify the type of log and where it belongs with little worry because vented logs are designed to be able to have some adjustment anyway.

If vent-free and without a manual, an educated technician should do this for you because the BTU setting on the valve must be compared to the types of burners, port placement, size of ports, amount of ports and flame height. After this examination, someone familiar with the various hidden "tongue-and-groove" etchings in different types of gas logs can figure-out where to place the logs. They may have to test the fireplace burning once or twice to get it exactly correct but once you understand the idea of how a vent-free gas log diminishes the carbon-output of the amount of gas flowing through the burners then it is only a matter of watching the flames to see where the logs could be and comparing the size and layout of the logs to find the best fit.

I have pyromaster gas logs that has low gas flow

Sounds like a ventilation problem... they're not getting enough air. That's a real safety problem. Make sure they have enough fresh air, and that the room itself does also. This issue is a major safety problem, and if more ventilation does not fix the issue, stop using it! Gas burners are not supposed to stay on without a flame present!

The dryer heats up at first but the burner won't ignite after it cycles off. The ignitor comes on but no flame. I changed the rear thermostat on the vent housing but that did not resolve the problem.

you have bad gas coils.when they are starting to die the dryer will run normally for the first 10 to 30 minutes and then no flame, the coils work fine until they heat up then nothing.when they cool down you'll have a flame again.easy fix,the coils are on top of the gas valve, take out the two phillips screws, remove the metal cover and change out the coils, that's it part number 279834.let me know how you make out

HOW CAN A DRYER IGNITE A FLAME AT FIRST FOR TEN MINS THEN WHEN THE DRYER WANTS TO HEAT UP AGAIN I SEE A GLOW BUT NO FLAME COMES THE SECOND TIME SHOULD I REPLACE THE THERMAL FUSE

No you should replace the coils. 3a3915a.jpgWhy? You know you are getting power to the gas assembly so that means the fuse and control are functioning. The igniter glows so that is good. The Flame detect is fine because it shuts down the glowbar when it heats up. So those pesky coils get hot and quit. They eventually cool back down and work a little more, very aggervating to diagnose but easy to fix.2b3709e.jpgNote you do not have to remove the gas assembly to replace these coils.
