SOURCE: I am setting up my proview pa-32jk1sa, for the

chances are that your reciever is outputting conventional NTSC .. not high def ... so you would scan for standard channels not hdtv .. if chanel selection is done by the satelite reciever then the scan will only find one channel 3 or 4 usually (or better yet you can use Svideo or component oututs if it has them .... if the receiver is a block converter that uses the tv to tune channels then you should get more channels detected ..

If the decoder is newer than the remote, there may not be a code setting for it. You can probably get the code list for your remote here:

HDMI input works ok. Hooked up external antenna. Did channel scan. It will only scan for analog channels. Has analog raster on screen. It has no information on menu page for digital channel scan.

do you have the air option in the scan menu see
http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/sanyo/dp42841.html
page 9 important fact cable digital gets wiped by air digital channels

You may be able to get around this via a digital hd tv decoder box and then have it on a hdmi input on the TV as a backup to the cable if you can't have both cable digital channels stored and aerial digital channels stored

Need to tune in Philips Tv 14pv284/05 lost manual

If you're trying to scan for channels, this option should be found in your menu. I am not sure what your menu looks like, but usually there is a "Channels" setting in your menu. You can then select "Start Scan" or "Scan for Channels." You might also look for anywhere that says "Initial Setup" or somewhere in the menu that says "Add/Remove Channel." For some reason, Philips does not allow you to look this model up on their website. If you can't figure out the menu you should try calling Philips customer support.

My screen is blue. says cable. i dont have cable and cant get the tv to do any chanel.

What is the make and model of the television? If it has a HDTV off air decoder then you can try this....A little trick i learned years ago. Get a paper clip and bend it into an "L" position and then insert that into the very center of where the cable goes into and then scan for off air channels. You will know if this is working when it says it found "x" amount of channels as it is scanning thru the channels. Give that a try and see if that at least gives you a picture... IF that works then you can get off air signal HDTV for FREE. And you might want to invest in a HDTV OFF AIR ANTENNA.. For free tv. Let me know how that works for you and then we can go from there. Good luck and have a great afternoon. SINCERELY HDTV GURU JAY

I have a phillips plasma tv. model 42pfp5532d/05. i canot tune in the digital channels. what do i need to do ?

to get digital, you need to do the autoprogram or channel scan.. then it will find them and add them to your channel. point your antenna toward your towers and re-scan the channels. if you want digital cable, you need a cablecard (where applicable) or cablebox to decode..

No OTA channels

This television has an extremely weak tuner. It is very sensitive to both ghosting (multipath) and weak signal conditions, which cause it's digital decoder to "error out". Coupled with this is the decoder's long set-up time (time to actually begin a decoded video stream after signal is selected)and you find that every time the decoder loses sync it takes several seconds to reestablish normal decoding. The net result is the possiblity that the tuner will be continually restarting and never display anything. An extremely directional antenna may help. Otherwise, find a good external tuner box and use that.
