LG RH1999H DVD HDD Recorder

I have purchased the above item in Thailand and I have many DVDs from the UK and they will not play on this DVD player as it is the wrong region code for the player. I had a Sony DVD player prior to this and the shop did a small either a software or a hardware chane to the player and it played DVDs from any region just like the DVD playes in computers. Is there a fix for this LG player and if so where can I get it or can I do it myself. I am an electronics engineer.

1. Turn machine on
2. Use remote to open disc tray
3. Use remote to go to setup area of menu (Home - Left) and scroll down to 'Lock' symbol
4. Press 0 seven times

LG RH265 does not read DVDs

Purchase a DVD cleaning kit and follow the instructions, this will remove any dirt from the laser pickup lens, and hopefully get it up and running. If this fails, the only other option is have the whole laser assembly replaced, "expensive" or replace the entire unit.

Can this machine play NTSC disks? My player is taking forever to start up. Should I format the HDD now & then? Will it help to update the firmware, how is this done?

HOW DO I MAKE MY DVD PLAY ALL REGIONS

I have done the following and it removed the Region Protection:

1 Press 'SETUP'
2 Scroll down to LOCK
3 Press '0' seven times
A message that confirms that the player is region free will appear on the screen!

This worked for me on my RH1999H

Live in region 2 want to play region 1

To unlock all regions:

1.Press Setup on remote
2.Scroll down to Lock icon
3.Press 0000000
4.Regionfree!!!

Need to play region 1 DVD in region 2

I just got a RH387H in Hong Kong, region 3, but the above method doesn't work, this model has slightly different icon, no "lock" icon, I tried in other similar location but no effect, hopefully someone will provide a method.

My DVD recorder won't play my CDs

Recently purchased a unit... You can imagine the joy when I found in Manual: Audio discs can only play if in .mpg or .wma formats! Yes, all the bells and whistles except the most basic of functions such as all common audio formats. Other portable $99 dvd player works with them.
