I figured how to get the Memorex DVD-R's working again. I went and bought a DVD lens cleaner and all the errors stopped at least for a while I hope.

Memorex doesn't work in my machine. But the manual -recommended Verbatim DVD+RW disks work perfectly.

I lost my remote control for magnavox 20v6

To buy an original remote control you have to contact the nearest Magnavox Authorised Service center. They can provide you a new one. If you want to buy one universal remote control, check the remote controls' code list, and make sure that the universal remote contro you buy have setup codes for Magnavox.

Recording Error, Can not record on this disc, E 4 54040990 Just trying to record from TV on a Memorex DVD+RW. Keep getting this error. Any ideas?

Recently started getting the same error message. I thought it was because I was getting to close to full or something that was trying to over fill the discs. Have tried EP and LP and this just started when I had a disc set to record to the end. I can't even open that one or finalize it. The rest do the same. They are working fine and when the error comes up, ZAP the disc is dead, no access.

I also tried putting the same disc into another Magnavox DVD recorder, still no access. These are both the most reliable recorders I've ever owned and I've had a number.

magnavox error message dvd "e 6 2a031000 can not record on this disc."

I suspect at this point, a batch of cheap Nexxtech DVDs. Also it's possible that it's a heat problem with the recorder? Once the disc goes into error mode, it's unreadable and all recordings that haven't been written to the TOC become invisible, but that time is forever lost on the DVD.

DVD is visibly (looking at recording surface) FULL but the supposed record time isn't used up. Data error. Discs reporting wrong size. Try a different brand of DVD.

Recorded dvds wont play in other dvd players

You have to finalize the disc. if the disc goes to the end it will finalize the disc automatically. If there is some part of the disc not used you have to do it yourself. IN DVD MODE PRESS SETUP, THEN DISC EDIT, THEN FINALIZE. FINALLY PRESS YES. That should do it.
