    Hitachi 42HDS69 stuck on standby.
I have the same problem. For a while about once a week I would have to upnplug the TV from the wall to get it to turn on. The red standby light was on but the blue light didn't come on and the TV didn't either. Some times the RED light was off also but when I unplugged it fixed it. Now I have just the red standby light and even after unplugging the TV it will not turn on.

Hi, two things.. Either your remote needs new batteries, or you need to switch off your tele and allow it to reboot for a few minutes before switching it back on, I hope this helps

I think you have problems with the digital main PWB.

If the power PWB failed, turn off and change the pilot ligth to red.

SOURCE: Powers up but picture doesn't appear.

Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.

If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

I have a 2006 Hitachi Ultravision 42 inch plasma

plasma tv units use a lot of power ,well into the hundreds of watts 9 some big screens use up to 800 watts to work)
I suggest that you consider a new led unit which uses barely any power and you will get a remote with it
