I am using Dell Inspiron 1525 and have already attached an external mouse but the cursor still jumps to wherever my mouse is when typing. (it is still jumping as I type this)This is getting very inefficient and frustrating. HELP! :(

    Thanks Coldsilver20

    I really want to deactivate my Dell mousepad but it seems there's no such function/option to my laptop. :( The problem still persists.

This is because you must deactivate your touchpad. you can do this by holding the Fn key and pressing the F* key that shows a picture of a touchpad in the same color as the Fn.
or you can go to control panel and turn it off in the mouse settings. but just attaching a mouse will allow the touchpad to stay active and therefore still be sensitive enough for your hand to "tap" th cursor.;
Good luck and pls rank this response! :D

If your hands are really warm they don't even need to touch the touchpad in order to move the cursor. You can go into "device manager" and disable the touchpad and just use a wireless mouse instead.

Hi! I think youre probably having a jumping cursor where the cursor jumps from one place to another while typing an email or something. You may got to control panel - hardware - mouse then look for the check box that you can tick on that says "Tap off while typing" and this should fix the problem. Thanks for visiting FixYa.com!

While typing on my laptop, my cursor jumps to other places on the page, then types where the cursor has moved to . I don't use a mouse.

Hi,
I guess the 'other places of the pages' is mostly the beginning of the line? It usually happens when the key stroke is not proper while using combination keys. Or also it happens when if you dont release a key when you press the next in between your speedy typings.

Comment posted on Mar 16, 2009 then this will be your final solution. install the drivers here; http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R176423&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_1525&servicetag=6Z6GNF1&os=WLH&osl=en&deviceid=14029&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=2&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=17&fileid=239968

this will install an icon on your toolbar to adjust the touchpad settings in which case you can disable touchpad click response.
