If possible could you check output voltage of the charger with a multimeter? If you can get output voltage, then might be something wrong with laptop battery charging circuit. Contact Laptop Repairing Engineer.

Hello,You can do a system restore in your computer to revert it back to the known good condition.go to start or pearl > Accessories > System tools > system restore. Select the date when the synaptics driver was still in your computer.I hope this helps.

Dell sells both wired and wireless keyboards and mice that are compatible with Dell and other computer systems. Dell wireless keyboards may encounter hardware, software or other problems under certain conditions. Power Dell wireless keyboards transmit data to the Dell USB receiver, which in turn passes the data to the computer's operating system. The keyboard gets power from two AA batteries. As the batteries lose charge, the keyboard's transmissions can become intermittent. Replacing the old batteries with fresh ones will ensure consistent communication and resolve the power issue. b> Interference Dell wireless keyboards operate best and are least susceptible to interference when the user places them at the recommended distance from the USB receiver. Even if the user places the keyboard at the proper distance from the USB hub, metal objects between the keyboard and hub can create interference; moving objects that create the interference resolves the issue. b> Connection The Dell USB receiver that passes data from the keyboard to the computer requires proper and secure installation in a working USB port. If the receiver connects to the USB port improperly, or if the USB port to which the receiver is connected is faulty, the keyboard will not operate as expected. The user can reseat the receiver in the USB port, or connect to the receiver to a different, functioning USB port to resolve connection problems. b> Synchronization Dell wireless keyboards can broadcast at more than one frequency, just as their associated USB receivers do. If the two devices broadcast at different frequencies, they will not pass information to each other. The user can resolve this situation using the buttons labeled "Connect" on the top of the receiver and the bottom of the mouse. Pressing the buttons simultaneously triggers the synchronization process. b> System Dell wireless keyboards are compatible with most Dell systems. However, a keyboard may be incompatible with a given computer for reasons related to the computer rather than to the keyboard. To determine if this is the case, a user can connect the keyboard to a different computer. If the keyboard functions as expected with the second computer, the problem may reside in the first computer rather than in the keyboard. Try with new battery pack. It may be faulty RAM too.

Take the computer to a qualified technician for trouble-shooting.
It could either be a loose cable between the keyboard and the motherboard, or it could be a dead keyboard.
Either way, it is not a "user-serviceable" part;
so, pay the technician to get it repaired safely & correctly.

1525 owners (possibly other models) DO NOT replace the mobo before reading this! Just read step 3 and 3a.

The Dell 1525, 600 series, and probably all other models using PA10 or PA12 power supplies have a power jack that uses the center pin to detect the presence of a genuine Dell power adapter. There have been considerable writings on the problems with this 3rd pin on the internet.
The symptom is that you can run the laptop when plugged in but the battery won't charge and you get a warning message that you are not using the proper power supply or it can not be identified.
The best place to see power supply status in the BIOS under battery status.
You MUST use a genuine Dell adapter, period. None of the non OEM supplies have the center pin enabled (proprietary chip).
CAUSES:
1. The power adapter sensing line can be damaged by static electricity but I find this to be rare.
2. The center pin in the power supply is loose or the wires are breaking (test by wiggling the power cord at the strain relief while holding the plug steady in the laptop - replace the power supply for $<20 on eBay.
3. The center pin connector on the laptop jack is loose - symptom is that it works sometimes and not others. Requires a full breakdown and replacement of the jack. Can be done yourself if you are very handy AND WILLING to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS which are excellent on the Dell web site. Does require soldering on most laptops.
3a. At least on the 1525 there is a sub board for the power and USB which you can get for $80 on eBay and just plugs in - still requires pretty much total breakdown. The board itself is usually the problem so replacing the connector won't help - it is in the multilayer trace from the power jack to the mobo connector. There is a bypass wiring method that requires super close tolerance soldering - I will post that if asked.
4. On some older models (P4 1 core) you can go into the BIOS and turn off Intel speed step to get the laptop running - it will run slower but you probably won't even notice the diff.
This whole mess is the result of Dell trying to protect the mobo and battery (life and fire prevention) but packing too much wiring into a too small package. They should have used a larger, 3 prong type power jack knowing how much strain is put on the power cord.

FIOS and DSL use different modems and or gateway devices. Sounds like you were using a DSL gateway device with networking setup and when you moved to FIOS, the tech did not duplicate your network on your new FIOS gateway. OR you had a 3rd party router e.g. Linksys that was removed from the setup when FIOS was installed.
Either way, Verizon is who you should contact. Just tell them your network went down after you moved from DSL to FIOS. Dont mention Microsoft or Livewebtv.

Press and hold the power button. It sill shut down completely. If this fails, just remove the battery.

It freezes because one of the programs set to start at boot crashes. To identify which immediately after booting open Task Manager and look at the processes - one should reach 99% CPU use. Once you have found it stop it from launching at boot or just uninstall it.

If you have some region-locked DVDs and you can't play on your DVD player, you can remove the region code by just get a dvd copy disc without region codese. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Copy which enables you to remove region code from Blu-ray and DVD.

The hard drive has failed. If you're in warranty, contact Dell for a warranty replacement of the drive - it's a customer-replaceable part.
If you're out of warranty, look on ebay for a good deal on a brand new hard drive for your Dell Inspiron 1525

There are different kind of passwords, System password, System setup (BIOS) password, Windows password etc. Do you see the windows logo after which it is asking for the password or do you get this screen before that?

Since it sounds like an issue with the Power first try to release flea power.Disconnect the charger,remove battery,press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds.Reconnect the battery and charger.Turn on system and check if it turns on. For further help please check Dell Inspiron 1525 Manual. Also confirm if the light on the charger stays on,when connected to the system.

If under warranty, contact Dell Technical Support.

If not under warranty, check Manul to replace

Hi Marci, there used to be a Microsoft Fixit download that you could download & run to resolve this issue, but MS retired it.. Follow these instructions and this will also resolve this issue: To enable the Windows key, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedt32, and then click OK.
2. On the Windows menu, click HKEY_LOCAL_ MACHINE on Local Machine.
3. Double-click the System\CurrentControlSet\Control folder, and then click the Keyboard Layout folder.
4. Right-click the Scancode Map registry entry, and then click Delete. Click Yes.
5. Close Registry Editor and restart the computer.
