I have a 9 year old Hotpoint free standing gas range with self-clean oven. When I try to ignite any of the top 4 burners, it will take a long time to have flames. I see spark and no flame. But as soon as I hear gas flowing, the burner lights up right away. All of the rest burners will then light up as well. If I turn all of the burners off and wait about 30 minutes. I have to do the whole process again - let it click for a long time and eventually it will light up. But if I turn all burners off and restart them right away, I have no problem having any of the burners to ignite. Oven seems to work fine.

no gas flow sounds like a bad gas regulato on the stove. as for the 5 year old ge profile with ignitors not working, you need a part called a spark modual

If your top burners are not lighting or will not work, it is possible that the burners have become dirty or wet. Please follow the troubleshooting directions below before calling service:

The repair person came in today and replaced the regulator valve. He claimed that it worked. But when I tried it, it didn't light up right away. Still it's a big improvement - time to light up from up to 2 mins down to about 15 seconds. I was a little disappointed but figure may be it's normal that it doesn't light up right away. I hope there isn't any more problems because I have already spent $180 for this repair. I will try again to see how it goes tomorrow.
