It seems to me that you get the loading bar when you switch keypads. I just switched keypads, and when I reinserted the TI84 Plus keypad back again I found my last TI84 Plus screen contents still displayed.
As to the RAM cleared message, it probably is related to the batteries being depleted.
To verify battery charge level, you may use TI connect.

How do i install the ti-84 operating system to the ti nspire

You do not. The TINspire with TI-84 keyboard works as a TI-84 Silver edition. Its OS is update when the TINspire OS is updated. The Ti 84 OS's you find on the TI website are not for the TINspire with TI84 keyboard.

I am own a Ti-nspire and trying to download the latest Ti-84 silver plus os however when it begins to transfer to my calculator it says transfer error what can i do to fix this?

The standalone version of the OS for the TI84Plus/TI84Plus SE are not for TI-Nspire with TI84 keyboard. The 94 Plus part of the TI-Nspire is updated when you update the OS of the TI-Nspire. The version numbers are different.
To update you TI84 portion of the TI-Nspire, update the OS for the TI-Nspire. Thy are now at Version 3.2.3.1233

Why do I get different answers when I am working with the TI 84 Plus keypad rather than the TI-nspire keypad. Working on the same calculator.

If you are doing a logistics type of problem, there is a function called LogisticD which will duplicate the processing method of the older calculators. It is a result of the way that the calculators process the problem.

Hi
A. Download the TINspire OS from education.ti.com

Use the Ti-Nspire computer link to reload the OS onto the calculator.
  1. Remove the Ti84 keyboard and insert the Ti-Nspire keyboard.
  2. Make sure the battery are good.
  3. Connect the TI-Nspire device (with the Nspire keypad) to the computer using the USB Standard A to Mini B cable
  4. Run the Ti-Nspire computer link software.
  5. The select device dialog should appear, and detect the device.
  6. With the mouse cursor, select the OS, drag it and drop it on the main window (file browser window) of the TI-Nspire computer link software.
  7. Alternatively, click the menu Tools and select Install OS. A Select file window opens.Use the browse button to point to the OS and click Open/OK
B Installing from another Ti-Nspire ( not a TI-Nspire CAS) if availabe)
  1. Connect the two devices using the USB Mini A to Mini B cable
  2. The end marked A should be inserted into the sending unit, while the end marked B should be inserted into the receiving unit.
  3. Both units must be turned ON
  4. On the sending unit, access the document chooser by pressing [Home](the house icon).
  5. Once in the document chooser, press [Menu] and choose 9:Send OS…
Hope it helps.

Yes, the Ti nspire not only functions as a ti83 but, also operate w/ nice advance math software that any teacher would envey. It comes with the ti83 keypad plus software and great instructions to help the instructor at all levels of math learning. I don't know any better and it is a beautiful plan that ti has set up.

Won't boot into new screen

  1. Remove the keypad (for TI-Nspire) or the battery door (for TI-Nspire CAS) and remove at least 1 battery from each column of batteries. After 2-5 seconds, reinsert the batteries and turn the unit on. This will cause the unit to reboot the operating system.
  2. Hold down [Home] [Enter] [P], and while holding these keys, press [On]. The device will boot up as in the previous reset, but will display a menu with the following options. Please try options 2, 3, and 4 in that order.

    1. Cancel - The most non-intrusive reset option; no changes are made, the unit restarts. 2. Delete Operating System – The operating system will be deleted without deleting any documents. 3. Delete Document Folder Contents – This will delete the user’s documents, but will not delete the OS. 4. Complete Format – This will delete the OS and all documents for a total erase of memory.
Note: TI-Nspire family model options 2 and 4 above require that the OS be reinstalled. The reset menu will only display if the unit is off and batteries have been removed/replaced as described above.
