Oil filter I just purchased a 2001

An "O" ring can be purchased at your local auto parts along with your oil filter. Your oil filter screws on top of your oil cooler. Mine leaked as well. A new "O" ring and filter screwed on tightly solved my problem.

I would suggest then going to the Chilton's Manual, you can purchase in any automotive repair store or order online. Usually it's the oil filter and it has seals that can crack and go bad. But I would also suggest having the appropriate amount of quarts of oil and drain it, or otherwise it will become a super messy job.

Raise the vehicle off the ground and support with jack stands(both front wheels off the ground), chock the wheels, buy and oil change drain pan and a oil filter strap wrench for that filter application(parts store will supply the proper wrench), have available a set of box wrenches 1/2"-3/4".
Purchase the proper replacement oil filter, and oil, be careful not to overfill the oil check the level after filling three quarts in crankcase, also only hand tighten the oil filter, and be sure the drain pan bolt has a gasket on it and it is tightened securely.

The oil recommended for the 2001 Ford Focus is the Motorcraft SAE 5W-20, WSS-M2C153-H, or an equivalent. If you are going to use any other brand, always make sure that it is certified for gasoline engines by the American Petroleum Institue (API). This designation is on the container. And, always, make sure you are purchasing the correct weight of 5W-20. Ford does not recommend any additives.Make sure you get an equally good quality oil filter, too.

the bike should be straight up and down and the oli level should be in the middle of the glass you bike should take around 4 qts

Your filter is visable by looking under the car. its near the exhaust pipe again, but toward the front of the car. tucked near the plastic air shield.

it should tell you on the cap of the oil what oil and start with 4 qrt and then let sit for a few minutes then chec dipstick usauly its 5 qrts
