Is the motor from an AEG L16820 Washer Dryer compatible for use in an AEG L16850 Washer Dryer

The two model nos you quoted do not in general have interchangeable motors however.... The exact motor depends on your product number not your model number. Look on the plate on the machine and check on aeg's website or a spares website

Hello, The last few washes from my 16820

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Absolutely! Not an uncommon occurence and probably caused by number 2 below- but I would advise checking all three ;-0)

Bad odours could be coming from a few places.
  1. the plumbing u-bend of the washer's room or
  2. the fact that there is 'foul' water being left in the drum.
  3. No washes at 90 degree+ !
I would suggest checking the plumbing u-bend for trouble first, then following the notes on checking and cleaning the drain filter and the drain pump to ensure there is nothing 'obnoxious' hanging around the two of them! Finally run the occasional 90+ wash, or use specialised lower temperature powder/fluid, to kill bacteria.
Here are my complete and general guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck,
John C

E20 fault, motor works intermittently

If you think your washing machine may be faulty, check the following points before calling a Service Engineer. These checks could prevent a charge being made for the Service man's visit if the machine is found to be in perfect working order.Initially check the filter on your washing machine and clean if necessary, your manual should detail this procedure.
If your machine will not start or complete the programme, check:
  • The plug, the socket and the switch, if necessary, with another appliance.
  • The fuse in the plug.
  • That the door is closed.
  • That a programme is accurately selected.

If water will not enter, check:
  • The hot and cold hoses are correctly connected to the relevant caps and that these are turned on.
  • That a suitable programme has been selected.

If water will not drain, check:
  • That the outlet hose is not kinked or raised more than 40° from the floor.
  • If you wish to remove articles when the water will not pump out, place the end of the drain hose into a bucket on the floor and allow water to drain out by gravity, noting that more than one bucketful may be present. Hook the hose into the sink again and try the spinner before removing the articles - if this fails most of the water can be baled out with a cup.
  • If the above method fails to remove the water then the pump is probably blocked - do not open the door, but contact your nearest Service Engineer.

Have a AEG Lavamat Turbo wash dryer that stalls mid cycle full of water and code 21

E21 means a blockage in the drain pump. I would check the impeller spins freely. A coin from a pocket can cause that error as it gets stuck in the impeller.

I have a aeg washer/dryer- it washes fine but then I have problems drying Any idea how I can solve this? problem

Please start with your clothes after the washer finishes it's washing cycle. Take them out and see how dry they are. They should be nearly dry. If not, perhaps the reason you are having problems is they are too wet to begin with for the dryer to properly do it's job.. This is not a rare problem. One possible reason for the clothes not to be dry when the washer finishes is a loose or worn out belt under the washer. Another problem some washers have, particularly washer/dryer combos, is that they are sometimes not very effective. In that case, either smaller loads or rerunning the spin cycle at the end of the washing cycle might help you. God bless your efforts.

I would like to find a User's manual, in English, for my AEG 22L water softener. Can anyone point me to a source, please?

AEG FFE62620PM dishwasher had error code i30 for second time in 2 months. How do I remove the plinth?

To remove the plinth on your AEG FFE62620PM dishwasher, please follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the power supply to the dishwasher by unplugging it or turning off the circuit breaker.
  2. Open the dishwasher door and locate the two screws on the bottom of the plinth. These screws are located on either side of the dishwasher and are usually covered by plastic caps.
  3. Remove the plastic caps and use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws.
  4. Pull the plinth away from the dishwasher to remove it. It may be helpful to have someone hold the dishwasher steady while you do this.
  5. Once the plinth is removed, you should be able to access the base of the dishwasher and any components located there.
  6. If you need to reinstall the plinth, simply reverse the above steps.
