Bought 2004 Kawasaki klx 125 and takes 20-30 kicks to start with choke on and even more when cold. Won't run right until motor warms up n takes a while for it to warm up. Runs fine after it does but it's hard to get started. Any suggestions??

Be certain the battery is in good condition. Install a new spark plug. Clean the carb and air filter. Use the throttle sparingly. The carb has a power valve that gives an extra shot of gas each time the throttle is twisted. Too many twists and the engine floods out. Please rate my answer. Thanks!

SOURCE: I have a 2008 Kawasaki klx 125 I just bought used

Well - usually something like this would make me suspect the compression and timing first then the jetting in the carb. You might want to do a quick compression check although I do not know what the pressure should be for your bike. I would suspect at least 165PSI. You could have bought a bike that was run without an air filter or something like that.

I would also check the simple stuff - clean the air filter, drain the float bowl and tank and replace with fresh fuel (especially if your fuel is diluted with Ethenol !) and maybe even replace the spark plug.

If all this checks out OK and you still have the same thing going on, you might need to alter the low speed jetting (pilot jet).

What is the choke position on 2004 klx 125, up or down

Down is choke "ON" and up is choke "OFF". Had same question and found on another site. Made carb adjusrment much easier after cleaning. Bike was new to me and runs great now.

Bike wont kick start or idle , it will coast

first drain the carby, then set your air mixture screw 2 turns out, from the fully turned in position. The starting proceedure is as follows, when the engine is COLD, turn on fuel, pull on the choke fully, and kick the engine over. DO NOT use any throttle, when the engine is cold, and the choke is on. Remember Choke on, NO throttle.
When warm, no choke, and a little throttle when kicking.

2004 klx 125l bike ideling

How long has the bike been sitting? The gas may be bad or the carb might need to be cleaned out or choke may be sticking.

Hard to start kawaski barako 175

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

A known common issue with the Barako with either the kick or electric version specially when cold, in the early hours of the morning or if have not been used for some time. A couple of initial ideas to try:
  • leave the petc0ck open (even overnight);
  • before starting, twist the throttle a couple of times;
  • use the choke;
  • you may be interested to explore the possibility of modding the carb with one from an Eliminator.

In most instances, tyagaan lang yan but of course is a pain pag nagmamadali.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Kawasaki gt550 won't start from cold! even with choke!!

when you get the bike started you need to adjust the pilot air screw. here's how= turn in clock wise until engine falters(mark that spot with a pin)then out counterclock wise until the engine falters(mark that spot also) then put the screw in half amount adjustment of the two marks.that will take care of if it is to lean or to rich.make sure the engine is good and warm before doing so.

Bought a 2004 klx125 and the bike starts very hard and won't idle. My son doesn't ride it as much as he would like to because of these problems. Are there changes I can make to the stock carb. that will...

hi mate just turn the idle screw in on the carb until it starts and runs smoothely dont screw it to much though it will rev right up else just do it a quarter turn each time until it eventually stays running good luck buddy
