Clutch problems
Are you using synthetic oil or an oil with " Special " additives? Synthetics and additives can swell the cork on the fiber plates and cause the problem. Extremely dirty oil can cause the clutch to drag also. Check to be certain the clutch plates and other components were re-assembled in the proper secquence. The first and the last plate should be fiber. If the above has no merit in solving the problem, go to the dealer and have them adjust the clutch. Put the bike in gear when at idle, not while the engine is revving.
Oil leak under front sproket
The oil seal on the sprocket shaft has probably gone bad. Remove the sprocket then clean the shaft to aid in removing the old seal. A screw driver and small hammer is used to pry the outer edge of the seal inward. Realize that you will butcher the old seal in the process of removal. The only other way to remove the old seal is to pull the engine and split the center case.
Head leaking water on a yz426f
could be head gasket or one of the coolant hose orings where it bolts to head, clean off and dry and look where it is coming from
2001 yzf426 front fork leak
Each fork has an outer dust seal, and an inner seal inside of that. Dirt gets between the seal lip and the fork slider and causes the oil to escape. The fix is to have them (Both sides) replaced. You need a fork seal driver tool (Size specific for the size of the fork) and something to measure out the oil amount. It's not an easy job, if you have never done it. Also... if the oil has never been changed, it's due.
On 2001 yz426 bikes is it also common for them to
Any of the wrf, yzf's WILL got hot if you sit and let them idle. They are not designed for that.If you stop for more than 20-30secs. Stop the motor. If you don't,It will overheat. They need the air running over the radiator..Hope this helps
Stator area
I'm not familiar with that particular bike, but usually there's no problem with starting it with the cover off. If the repair would require any structural strength JB Weld wouldn't be satisfactory. Epoxy or JB Weld would be ok if you just needed to fill up a crack or hole to keep out moisture.
My 2001 yz 426f boils/blows out radiator overflow hose
The older YZF's radiators were a tad small so they would overheat when sitting still. Even the newer ones will do this if sitting still for too long as there is no air flow across the radiators to dissapate the heat.
The overheating problem is more severe on the older bikes. The best bet is to make sure you avoid sitting still for too long. I know it's not much of a solution, but it's just the way it is with the older YZFs.
What is the easiest way to adjust the rear shock?I
A lot of people use a large screwdriver and a hammer to unlock the locking ring and then adjust the spring. Make sure it's clean and spray some penetrating oil on the threads - the steel ring on an aluminum housing can tear the threads up.
I would suggest trying to get the corrrect tool - most online shops carry MotionPro tools and they make the correct spanner wrench.
Radiator cap leak
When you stop and let any of the 4 stroke yammies run at idle they will get very hot.If you stop for any more than 20 seconds,Turn them off! Really. They need the air running over the radiator. The header pipe can and will glow red.If you stop, turn off. They are running very high perfomance. This makes it happen.Hope this helps(its normal)
How to set timing
on the left side of bike you have two plastic covers remove those and you will see the bottom one a 14mm wrinch turn that tell the i lines up with the **** in the little hole above the crank hole. next put your cams on your chain with out turning the crank move the chain around the cams tell the cams both line up with lines facing up and the other outside lines level with the head surface this is a tdc and a dead on time for a 00-03 ysf426f
