I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu Maxx (87,000 miles) with what appears to be a ghost! My power door locks "go crazy" by locking and unlocking themselves continuously. This happens while driving, parked, and even with the car completely shut off. I have often locked the car at night, and come out in the morning to find it had unlocked itself. This is an intermittent problem that will occur for a few days, then not happen for a week or so... repeat.
Also, the power lock buttons on both driver and passenger side do not work - I have to manually lock all 4 doors. I can unlock the doors from outside using a key, but cannot lock them in this manner. This problem occurs consistently, whether the "crazy ghost" is at work or not.
I believe there may be a connection to another problem with my battery dying when the doors are left open or accessories are left on for 5-15 minutes without the car running. This happened consistently for a few weeks, but has "magically" stopped.
In addition, my front passenger turning signal lamp will not work. The bulb has been replaced twice. The first time it worked for 3 days, then blew again. The second replacement bulb never worked once.
Could all this be related? Hopefully a simple wiring problem or short somewhere?
I have had the same problem with my 2003 Suburban. I will be driving and the doors will automatically unlock. Then one day, they unlocked. the car beeped two times, then locked again. Yesterday, the doors unlocked then my car turned off.
My other problem is my car will shift into 4lo or neutral (on the 4 wheel drive) while I am driving. I have to pull out my book and do the steps to get it out of these gears.
Problem #3 - my tach works intermittenly.
Check wiring going to door there is a black rubber boot going to door wires have rubbed to a short. roll windows up and down if locks start working thats the door to check If one of your door locks don t work, check wiring
You have a poltergeist following you around!!!!!!!!!!
No wonder you wrote. Who knows where to start. I would try cleaning and retightening every connection I can get access to .

Hello Zoeno
Well in my experience it sure sounds like a bad wire in the wiring in the door jam. I have seen that happen before from the door shutting and opening all the time, I think there is a way to check it, if you put a fuse back in it and try using the passenger door to get in and out. If the fuse don't blow again after using the other door (drivers side) you have found your problem. I don't understand why GM would even change your fuse box for that it doesn't make any sense, I have been a shop owner for 11years now and a mechanic for 20 years and have seen many problem with electrical systems and when a fuse blows it is usually a bare wire touching somewhere in the system, also there is a relay for just about everything in that car, and could be a problem too. I know it may be a inconveniance to go thru the other door but it should help figure out if its the wiring in that drivers door or not. I sure hope that helps you out some, Thanks for using FixYa.com Bear001

Hello I am not sure if this is the exact fix but I was having the same problem and I took my Malibu in to be checked and it appears to be a problem inside the steering column. When I turn the steering wheel it makes the door locks go crazy!! So although this is not a fix it may be a place to look for a frayed wire or a short in the wires. I am taking my Malibu in on Monday to be checked. Good luck to all having the same problem.

It sounds like you've got a broken wire on the drivers side door. Usually this occurs at the flex point of the wiring harness. Peel back the outer covering carefully exposing the wires inside. Repair any broken or those about to break. Solder & retape or shrink rap with heat gun.Hope this helps. Good luck!

I have somewhat similar problem. I have a 2003 Malibu and the turn signal often never works, neither do the hazzard lights. I have cleaned the car because someone posted that helped them, but that did not work for me. It is upsetting, because as soon as I go to take it in, it works again. If anyone has any helpful info, please let me know.
