It is not even a 500 dollar car right now and you are going to spend 3 thousand on it to make it a 500 dollar car? The paint has no fix except another paint job, which again will cost far more than the value of the car after it is painted. You can buy a used motor at a junkyard for about 500 bucks, rent an engine hoist from a tool rental shop, make it a weekend beer drinking and bonding project to swap it in. If it has been sitting long, there will be lots of other things needing fixed before it is street ready.

The poor performance of the car makes these faults to come up and undermine the working of the engine. So to start off we need to check from the fuel tank. Check if the fuel contains impurities and specially water. If so this can come up with the pumping when the tank gets empty and produce misfiring, splutter and jerks. So a check on the fuel filter will confirm this as it will be seen, if so remove and clean tank and change the filter. We then come to the fuel pump/carburetor as the fuel mixing and pressure is determined in this section. You need to have the pump calibrated if the pressure at the injector is low.
Then we must check with the electrics. The spark intensity is most important .Remove all plugs to check gap and condition of plugs. The black plug indication will confirm that the performance is bad whereas a fully fired plug without deposits must be the ideal view. Check the HT coil and the HT wires, if the intensity is bad this must be swapped and checked to confirm. DO NOT CHANGE any part without a confirmation by trying with a replacement from another vehicle or friend. Finally the LT trigger to the coils must be checked be it from the platinum points or an electronic ignition unit. The voltage of the trigger must be high to give the best HT output.
Now use a strobe to check the Timing on the engine. Adjust if needed to see the TOP DEAD CENTER-TDC- mark. If there is valve noise make sure that the tappets are set properly so that the valves seat firmly for the best compression. Also check compression of engine if there is imbalance on the engine or reduced power.
Turns over will not start; will start with
yes, check ECI relay first. Fuel pump is a big job, and relay is cheap. Relay is probably in the engine compartment relay box. If you want to check the relay before replacing it, carefully open it and put it back in the socket. Then have someone try to start the car while you watch to see if the relays are closing. Let me know if you have questions.

My 87 conquest does nothing when i try to start.
no nothing will happen, if you listen for a clicking sound in the fuse box area when you turn the ignition on that meens the realy is ok, then it will possibly be a strater solinoid fault, you can try getting someone to turn the ignition over and at the same time tap the starter, this may start the solinoid off and turn the starter, make sure battery it 100% charged first hope this helps
My radio attena will no extend and their is no
After some time the antenna gets so dirty that it cannot work properly. It is usually possible to assist the extension motor by pulling gently on the antenna when someone turns the radio on. Once extended give the mast a good cleaning and you should be back up and running.
