I just replaced the brake switch and bumper on 98 Ford escort. I'm 63 and it was a bear due to my age and out of shape I had to lay down the seats and slide head first on my back to replace which I to tie wire it to needle nose vise grips but I saved myself a couple hundred
P1744 enginge code tcc solenoid circuit
DTC P1744 is "TCC - Excessive Slip
Detected During Full TCC Engagement". Which means that the Torque
Converter Clutch (TCC) is disengaged or the EPC pressure is at the
minimum.
The most likely cause is a sticking or
bad TCC solenoid inside the transmission. You can check the connector
at the transmission to make sure it is clean and tight and that it is
not damaged in any way.
If the TCC and wiring is okay, then pressure testing of the transmission will need to be done.
A new torque converter from Ford is about
$265.00 and about 4 hours labor. Throw in a $40.00 TCC solenoid and I
don't think it'll be more than $700.00 at worst.
If the pressure test is good then it's just going to be the $40.00 tcc solenoid and the cost of the transmission oil and filter changed which should be around $150.00
Good luck and hope it's just a loose wire harness to the solenoid which would cost $0.00 and just your time to locate the break in the wire. The other thing to, is to add a transmission fluid additive that would restore the clutch pack in the transmission and Torque Converter.

I can't find the orifice tube for the a/c on my 1998 ford escort zx2
The orifice tube is inside the line going to the evaporator you have to disconnect the lines to get to it you should change the accumulator tank because that's a very likely leak spot a/c systems never need freon unless there's a leak in the system and that tank is almost always responsible buy a can with dye in it to get the system charged enough to get the compressor to cycle the leak will show up wherever it is then repair and have the system evacuated with a vacuum pump do not skip this step you will have a bad result of blowing seals in the compressor or the orings on the lines plus you just spent $$to fix it do it right one time ok good luck stephen
I have a 1998 ford escort sport the fan does not
How hot does the engine get in degrees F? The radiator fan won't turn on till about 220 degrees F. You can use non-contact temp gun to check engine temp.
Any applicable trouble codes? Around here, some of the national brand auto stores will check p0 codes for free, if there are any.
You can use digital multimeter, ohms setting, Check across sensor terminals, as the engine warms up, the resistance is less. Just to see if working properly. If you want the exact specs, I'll try to find it. All I can do is help with testing. You have to do the testing.
