Trying to draw graph, what does syn error mean? I

Trying to draw graph, what does syn error mean? I inputted xmax and min. Then when I put in equation and press draw I get syn error?????

  • Anonymous Apr 26, 2010

thanks, i got it now just a formula error

  • Adnan Bhatti

Its a syntax error. Check your formula and whether you are inputting it according to the rules prescribed for this calculator. Example Sin 32 - 32 is correct but sin 32 -+ 32 will generate the syn error.

My TI-53 calculator will not graph all it says is ERR: window range

I do not know of any TI calculator with Model number 53, but I will try to give a general answer. If you get a window range error that means that the Window limits are not set correctly. For example, the lower limit in X, Xmin must be algebraically smaller that the upper limit, Xmax. The default for the TI graphing calculators are Xmin=-10, and Xmax=10. Similarly the Ymin must be smaller than Ymax. The default limits for the y-variable are Ymin=-10, and Ymax=10. If your calculator has a Zoom function ( if it is a graphing calculator, it must have it) then Press Zoom key and select Zoom Standard or ZoomStd.

I am using a casio graphing calculator and I am trying to graph a parametric function. I put the mode on Param and I inserted xt and yt and i press draw. It draw but then stops and gives me an arugment...

The argument error must have something to do with the parametric functions you are drawing. I do not think anybody would know where to look unless you give us the functions.
As to the range of the T-variable, you can set it by pressing [SHIFT][F3] to open the (V-Window) configuration screen. It starts showing Xmin, Xmax. etc. To get to the T range, use down arrow (about 7 times).

I am getting ERR:ARCHIVE 1:QUITE when I try to

I tried all possible situations where one would get an error ERR: ARCHIVED 1:QUIT 2:GOTO in relation to graphing, and I was unable to do so. Thus I cannot explain your error (in relation to graphing). I conclude that the error is unrelated to the graph.

As a general rule, one you get message ... 1:Quit, 2:GOTO press 2 and you will be shown the location where the offending symbol is.

Anyway, to graph functions, always deactivate the statistical plots
  1. Press [2nd][Y=] to access (STATPLOT) then press [4:PlotsOff]
  2. Command PlostOff echoes on main screen.
  3. Press [ENTER], calculator answers Done.
  4. Open the [Y=] editor to enter your function and
  5. Press [GRAPH].
  6. If you do not see any graph,
  • press [ZOOM][6:ZStandard] or
  • adjust the window dimensions by
  • pressing [Zoom] and
  • setting the Xmin,Xmax,Ymin,Ymax values
  • making sure that Xmin is less than Xmax, and Ymin is less than Ymax.

Everytime i try and draw a graph it comes up with window variables domain

Hi,
The window variables are not correctly set. Xmin < or = Xmax; Ymin < or = Ymax. Press Apps key, select Window editor. In Window Editor set the values of Xmin, Xmax, Ymin, Y,ax or press F2:Zoom and press 6:ZoomStd.

Hope it helps.

How to set the window?

Hello,
Press [Window]
Set the values of Xmin, Xmax, Ymin, Ymax.
If the x values that the function takes are all positive, you may set Xmin =0. If the values of the function are all positive, you can set Ymin=0.
If you are drawing a sine or a cosine function, you know that the function values are between -1 and +1, so you cant restict Ymin an Ymax to say -1.2 and 1.2. Similarly if you draw trigonometric function no need to have a range of X values between -10 and 10: the function being periodic you can restrict values (in radians to -pi to +pi, ) or to -90 to +90 degrees.
You set the limits of the window by making use of your knowledge of the functions you are drawing.

Hope it helps.

When i try to graph it says error and wont let me graph

Hello,
Reset calculator to defaults
[2nd][MEM][7][2][2] Defaults set.

[Y=] on line Y1= enter your function then press [GRAPH]
You can draw several graphs on the same screen.
If nothing shows (except the axes) use [ZOOM] to Zoom in or zoom out or use [WINDOW] to change the values of Xmin, Xmax, Ymin, Ymax.

Hope it helps.

I can't graph on my ti-84 plus silv. edition

More than likely, you've put in a number in the xmin or xmax that is not correct. Example....you put in an xmin of 10 and an xmax of -10 which would be backwards. This could also happen in the ymin or y max.

The easiest way to fix this is to press zoom 6 which wil get you back to the default graph of xmin of -10, xmax of 10 and ymin of -10 and y max of 10.

If you can't see your graph on this screen and need to change the window, just be sure the number in the min for both x & y is smaller than the number in the max. You change your window size by pressing the window button.

I need help with graphing everytime i try to draw a graph it comes up with this ERR:INVALID DIM what does that mean

It means that your Xmin or Xmax is messed up. it often shows up when you are plotting somethings (histogram for exanple) and you don't have enough X or Y range to fit all the points in it. it also happens when you are multiplying matricies without using the right dimensions. ERR:INVALID DIM just means your dimension is invalid.

When graph get err dim how do you fix

ERR: DIM means your dimension (Xmin,Xmax that kind of stuff) can not show all of your data. You need to change your X,Y min and max so it fits. this usually happends only when you try to display plots of any sort. It is very annoying trying to get the right dimension....

Problem using graphing on my casio

This calculator has so many options you can change, that it is possible one of them has been altered. Try pressing the master reset button at the back to re-set the calculator. Note that you will lose all your programs and data, so first copy out anything important. Also, set the xmin and xmax parameters to a higher value. To plot a sign wave, try xmin=-720, xmax=720, step=1, ymin=-1, ymax=1, step=.1 The step value won't change the appearance of the graph, just make it more chunky or fine. Use the equation y=sin x. This should draw a sign wave showing 4 complete waves. PS when you enter the X in the equations, you are pressing the X,0,T button, the one under the alpha key, aren't you? If you enter X using the x alpha key, it won't work. Also, to plot y=, make sure you change the func type parameter in the Set Up menu to y=. Hope this helps.
