Thank You for sharing this service procedure with "regular users". I'm just asking myself how big is the waste ink absorber? My printer (MP540) is like new. Last week, I just replaced the original set of cartriges which has been depleted after the first three months of operation.
Thank you! Options were to take to a service center or purchase a new printer. Was up and running in 6 steps!
Thanks so much!!! This worked for me. I thought I'd have to take the printer in for service but after following these instructions it got my Canon MP640 unstuck from it's printing error 6C10.
Tried this on my Canon MP640. Held down the two start buttons (black and color), as it doesn't appear to have a resume button. Followed the above directions exactly. It worked!
Thank you! This fixed my Canon MX870 with the error 6C10.
Thx, worked in the first try. But how can the display refere to the manual when the manual says nothing on the subject....
Well I'm just glad its working :)
Hi
As I have seen most the ink waste is as big as 6 to 7 cm square and about the same in height and takes some time before it full; hope this helps.

hat gleich beim ersten mal funktioniert. wollte den drucker schon wegschmeissen. alles wieder ok, super !!!
Thank you. This worked for me. I was ready to return my printer but I can now print a doc that was urgent.
So far the notorious 6C10 has disappeared.
Thanks! This worked for me! Only thing is that when I turn the printer on again after a day or so, I get the same error and I have to repeat this procedure. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Any other tips?
Thanks. This was the only to thing to fix my 6C10 error on my MP640
Think for the last step, on my MP560 I had to click four times. The fourth time, I did not release the reset before clicking the power button,.
I have got the same problem in my mp640, I can get into service mode ok on the lcd screen, but when I press the resume button 4 times, nothing happens then the screen comes up on another line "Idle", no matter what combination of buttons I try , nothing happens on the screen, how do I reset the counter absorber please
tnx a lot!! it's really work on my ip3680..continue the good works!!!
Hi. Not that clear when you say "click "Power" button"..then next step said holding power button...Well I just held power button and proceeded.........and it worked....nice to know there are people with knowledge on caring out real solutions--facing the factory saying "bring it in...WE have to fix it!!

Thank you very much!!!
No one had an idea what I have do to when the errror code 6C10 appears. My Canon MP620 is about 3 years old and there is no more guarantee. Your tip was saving me taking the printer to a service point or purchasing a new one.
i had to do the procedure two times, but then it works.
You Rock!
Wow! thank you very much! It worked!
In step 5, do I have to wait until the green led stop blinks?
Before doing step 5, do I have to wait until the green led stop blink?
mr. pine you are the MAN. I was gonna buy another printer and router.
this really works. thank you so much.
Many thanks. I thought I would have to pay almost the cost of a new printer to get this fixed at my local service centre. Another ploy by printer manufacturers to rid us of our money.

Just had this problem with my iP4700 and the fix worked well - am now back in operation. Many thanks.
It's a miracle! Thanks so much!
After 10 months without using my MP540, now it show me error 6C10. I changed all inks (there are 5 of them), but the error persisted... Following the steps you mencioned, the machine began working properly again :) And it took me less than 1 minute! Many thanks!
You little ripper. Clive.

Have you any suggestions for ink tanks that are "unrecognised"
Thanks it works :-))
brilliant ! Another Canon pixma ip4700 fixed -- same thing, wouldn't print got error code 6c10 and Canon said "Check the power plug or send it back 4 a motherboard replacement",..... 6 steps later and we're printing again. Thanks Clive & everyone else who posts their solutions online :))
I think this worked for me. I did it a little different. I have a Cannon MX870. I tried this once and it didn't seem to work. Then I did it again and instead of turning it off/on. I copied something. Then It printed fine. Hopefully it keeps working.
With an Canon MG6150, which is full touch with exception to the power button, Just press and hold the power button. Solution worked fine
Thanks
Really nice!!! Thanks, guy!

Error 6C10 for MP640 , i did with the instruction above , in the process they work ok , but when you going to print , they come back the same error message again , if you repeat , the circle repeat are same as told .
Do you got other way to let this printer get rid of this message , and come back work as normal .
Thanks
This fixed the Canon Service Error 6C10 too. Thank you!
Worked fine for me, fixed our ip4700 that Canon said we'd have to replace the motherboard on,... nope. Just the steps outlined above & error code 6C10 is no more ! Thanks for sharing the solution
The ink absorber is used to contain the ink used to clean print head. If full, Canon says to contact them and have the needed part replaced. :(
It worked for our MX870 Cannon printer. Thanks.
