I have changed all settings to A4, I have cleared all jobs, still same annoying error! Powered on and off, isntalled drivers on my laptop and connected, test page prints and then comes up with the same error noted above. HELP! :)

  • Anonymous Nov 26, 2008

Same problem the fix discribed worked One further comment the green light bleow the Warning triangle sign was flashing this is the memory indicator light which tells you you have something waiting to print.

The printer has a small button on the main panel, having a icon displaying an eye above it. Press that buton and you'll be able to cancel the curent print/copy/scan jobs. Just press that button then you can navigate with the "-" "+" buttons from the right (that small button is on the left) to select the job you want to cancel. Then press button "ok".

Press that button "status monitor" on the left and you'll be able to cancel the current print/copy/scan jobs. Just press that button then you can navigate with the "-" "+" buttons from the right to select the job you want to cancel. Then press button "ok"
After cancelling the print job, open the cover and close the cover.
the printer resets and the error message goes away.

We have the same problem that happens when our guests print pages from various sources. Problem occurs when the paper size is listed as "letter". To solve you have to change it to "A4".

I also wish we could throw it away. Ever tried to cancel a 5 page print to avoid wasting paper? By the time you have gone through the many steps you need to cancel a print, your 5 pages are already printed. UUUUuuuuuurrrggghghhhhh, I hate it.

So if you go to printer and scanner settings in windows and open the below screens by clicking "Canon MF5700 Series">"Printer properties">"Preferences" and change page size and output size to "Letter" It will print your multi page documents without interruption. Happy Printing

If you use OpenOffice and try to open document which is written on MS Work , have to go to Format->Page->
And check the Format Option. Have to be A4

  • Runaground Nov 16, 2010

    That's it. I use Windows 7 x64 and Canon MF 3110 printer.
To fix this problem I go:
    1. Start -> Devices And Printers -> Right Click @ my printer -> Printing Preferences -> Set up paper size to A4.

Maybe the step below was useless but I also set the same paper size in Right Click @ my printer -> Printer Properties -> tab Advanced -> Printer Defaults -> Set paper size to A4.

Also, verify that your paper size in from printer menu -> paper params is also set to A4.

This is the worst piece of equipment I have ever purchased.
It has only ever worked about one-third of the time.
Useless.
I get
1 false error message that cartridge is low
2 false error message that paper size must be changed
3 printing the same page all the time
4 flahing red light
5 won't print

  • Anonymous Feb 01, 2009

you must set all the programs that you print from to the papersize that you have installed - in my case A4
You must alter the settings on Word, PDF, your web browser or any other program you print from.
I always thought Canon were good - this is a terrible product and I would never buy a Canon printer again.

'check paper size' error has come up and nothing can now be printed. If turned off and on the last print which had caused the error prints out then the error message appears again. How can i clear this

This is usually caused by data within the print job. Microsoft Office sends paper size and job data with each job. Clear all print jobs in the computer sending the job.(Start/Printers/double click the canon printer and delete all jobs in the print que. Clear the Canon by off/on. Open a program and print a standard letter size document to test. This can be corrected by going to the page/document setup choices under "File" or the Ball in MS Office. Usually this is set to A4 or Bypass by mistake within the application.
Thanks

Have canon mf5700 says check paper size. Powering off doesn't help Changing trays does not help. After powering on again it prints a test page and then gives the warning again.

You need to remove paper tray, and unplug canon. Leave it this way overnight, and in the morning, reinsert the paper tray, and plug back it. This should effectively reset the machine, and clear that error. It worked for me!

My canom laserbase mf3110 print only one page

Well, when it comes to PDF files i found a solution. When u click the "print" icon, u get the "print" window. If u leave it as is, u will get a format/paper size error when trying to type several pages, as described by u. However, if u unmark the "Choose paper source by PDF page size", it will print as many pages as u want.

So...If u have trouble printing pages, it may work if u turn your pages into PDF format and follow the instruction above :)

MY CANON MF5700 PRINTER SAYS CHECK PAPER SIZE

Actionguy describes a solution where you: hit menu then # to get into service mode, scrolled to CLEAR, hit set, scroll to ALL and hit set again
You can also clear the printer's memory of the task that's causing the problem by pressing on the 'eye' button that gives the list of print/copy/fax tasks. press OK to select what kind of task you have, then choose your task to delete it. Finally press OK and Yes (minus) to clear it. Then, you can unplug the printer briefly to clear the error and it will start without the bad job and the error message.

Sounds like the configured paper sized does not match the actual paper page height. So that when it does Top Of Form paper movement the paper stops slightly too low. Doing several form feeds should confirm this. If this is it then reconfigure the paper size to match the paper. Also measure to paper to see if it matches what you want it to be.

Have canon mf5700 says check paper size and only prints one page of several page job

If your alarm light is flashing and your printer will not print, press the "copy" button to get the device into the copy mode, once the copy button light is on, press the "Status Monitor" button. The LED panel will then show two lines of words: Line 1 "COPY STATUS" and Line 2 "SELECT JOB TO CANCEL"; then hit the Set button and the screen will show you what print job which has jammed the printer and you then press the - (Minus) button to clear the job. Open and close the front panel and the printer should reset and the warning light go off.
I had trouble locating the problem because my machine tends to stay on the Fax mode and when I pushed the Status Monitor button I would only get information about fax jobs.
Hope you have already figured out the problem. I thought I had better tell someone so I will remember the next time I try to print a job which requires a different size paper than what I have in my printer.
Blessings!

MF8180C Check paper size error

for god's sake don't ring canon customer service as they are useless and just keep directing me to their **** driver which is causing the problem. i could not convince them that my "printer properties" "paper available" was locked on "letter" and won't allow me to change it. even when i go to the "printer preferences" page and set everything to a4 and press "apply" it still is locked on "letter" in the "printer properties" page. Iv'e probably wasted about 20 hours on this and my office has nearly ground to a halt. If i knew it was going to be this much bother i could have just bought another brand printer.
