Samsung ML-1450 printer not working properly

I purchased a Samsun ML-1450 laser printer about a year and a half ago and it's been great ... until earlier this year I went to use it and the print quality had declined, like it needed a head clean. I ran the Dr Printer software that came with the printer, but still it couldn't find/troubleshoot the problem. I've taken the toner cartridge in and out and it seems fairly heavy/full so I don't think it needs replacing but I'm not sure. The cartridges are expensive so I don't want to have to buy one if it's not necessary. Can anyone help ? thankyou

It is most likely to be the ITU - Imagev transfer unit, on average for samsungs you will get between 15k to 30k pages before one of these needs replacing. and for a samsung you will have a "Waste toner hopper" check to see if this is full. if so empty it and try again

All toner cartridges have a waste toner area where excess toner is stored, therefore appearing to be heavy. The 1450 will not ask for toner when depleted, and Samsung cartridges are cheaper than competing brands.

Print distorted and solid toner column with Samsung ML 1450

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

About 2 years ago, I purchased a Samsung laser printer, model number ML-2510. It performed very well until about a month ago, when I put in a new cartridge, number ML-201003/SEE which was different from...

/SEE is the cartridge for the European version of the printer, /XAA is the version for the U.S. I can't imagine why it doesn't work, but there's a reason for the European designation..

Samsung ML-1450 "Time out" error

I would try to reinstall the drivers for this printer and make sure it is your default or selected printer. It sounds like the drivers were changed or corrupt. Any new software install may of done this. Also try to let the printer be unpluged from power for 24 hours.
