I have an Escort Qi45 installed with Laser shifters and while it will often pick up laser signals, it will never pick up the signal from the local jurisdiction that I drive through everyday to work. I can't find anything on Escort website that tell if there's an update available or what signals are not detected by their product. Any thoughts or similar experiences out there.

It's called "Instant on" doppler radar. It's purpose is to defeat radar detectors and as you saw, it can. The system is powered down while the cop is sitting there watching traffic. When he sees someone he thinks is speeding he just taps a button and the unit emits a brief burst of radar and shuts off again. And just that quick he's got your speed. There are some radar detectors that say they can detect these too, but I wouldn't know how truthful that is.

If you are in an area where the police are not equiped with laser radar guns, most areas are to cheap to implement them, you can simply cover the laser sensor with black electrical tape and this will prevent it from going off every time you go anywhere near store with door opener sensors and a million other none cop sources of reflected laser light. Also if a cop hits you with a laser it is traveling at 186,000 miles a second and I don't think you will be able to hit the breaks before he gets the reading. the laser only goes off where he tags someone. Basically laser radar detectors are useless. This solution works 100%

IF this happens when you first get into the hot car, the problem is likely to be that the electronics in the unit are too hot. If the problem goes away after the car cools off inside (assuming you have AC), then your unit has just become overheated.
