Stanley Bostitch SB1850BN 18Gauge Brad Nailer Questions & Answers
Air leaking from trigger Bostitch SB1850BN
Most likely the orings or seals in the headvalve are not making perfect seal. Remove the head and pull out the headvalve. Apply plenty of white grease to orings and test again. If the gun fires, then will need oring kit soon, or just keep using plenty of grease. If the gun still does not fire, check that the safety foot is depressing the trigger valve all the way in. Good luck
Sounds like air leaking inside won't pressure up & shoot
It probably needs servicing. Strip gun & clean it may have water inside from compressor and/or may have too much oil inside (may have no oil at all and be seizing up). Clean & check O rings. ( I replace O rings during a service). When rebuilding apply a little Teflon grease to the O rings and smear a little inside the sleeve, do not add oil at this time. Connect to airline and check for correct operation. If all OK add a couple of drops of oil down air intake before starting work as normal.
Where can I buy a o-ring kit for a bostitch nailer #sb1850bn ?
Stanley Bostitch makes very few o-ring (rebuild) kits for thier nailers. Your brad nailer never had a kit available. You have to go to a service center or website like
www.ereplacementparts.com, find a breakdown of your model and order each o-ring seperately. Your nailer is an older tool that was sold as part of a combo kit and there are many parts that are no longer available or are shown on back order which usually means the same thing. If you have someone in your area that works on pneumatic nailers they may have o-rings from other manufacturers that will work.
How do I get a
you should be able to move magazine down to allow acess to driver where the nail is stuck. most guns have a quick release tab. Some have screws to take out.
My Bostitch nailer is new.
Did you try a couple drops of oil on the mechanism itself just in case it's a little tight. Right where nails come out . Make sure not hooked up to air line when you do it, obviously. Double check you have the correct gauge of nails as recommended as well.
I just bought the Bostitch
Check the position of the switches and selectors. It sounds like you are in between settings. Also, put in a few drops of oil, and try your gun out on scrap wood, so oil doesn't come out on your good work.
