Honda Activa won't self-start and needs kick-starting every second day. Even after battery recharging and even replacement. The kick-starter gets stuck. It took me 4 mins of constant kicking to start it today. We bought it for my father as he is in his 70s and need something that will self-start. But after regular servicing with authorized outlets and constant love and attention, the AViator has started having starting problems. We have recharged the battery so many times. Mechanics say the battery is fine. But it won't self-start.
SOURCE: Rectifier Problem
If the battery is charged, its charged..... redpoint5 is right, check the battery when hot... If the battery was not charging i would then look into the charging system, rectifier, etc.... Is it an air cooled engine? Sometimes engines can get a little warped when hot... My grandfather had Corvair vans as taxis that somehow always got overheated, after that they would never start hot. So, he had to leave them running all day.... If your battery is OK you may want to have a look at your starter.... Or, bypass the selenoid with a jumper cable and see if the starter kicks over fine when jumped directly...... That would indicate a bad or worn selenoid.

This was the same problem what I had with my New Unicorn. I approached the Service Center through Honda customer care, and now got a solution which is not bad. I could meet with a senior service manager and technician there and they really supported me solving this problem. I will brief out the findings and solution here:
Findings:-Engine heating up than normal, Exhaust valve misbehaves at this extreme condition. Air block is happening at the time of exhaust stroke inside the engine.
Solution:-Engine was overheating than normal because of bad/changed valve clearance and improper oil pumping inside the engine. They corrected valve clearance for now and replaced entire oil pump unit inside engine. Replaced rubber mounts on top of both valves. Replaced the clutch lift plate because of bent formed after trying so many kick starts while piston movement was interrupted due to air block.

Hi there and thank you for using FixYa!
Yes this is a common problem with bikes having dirty spark plugs and poor fuel quality. What you do is to remove the plugs, clean it well.. or better, replace it with a new one. Then if it still doesnt start, pull the choke knob for a while. start it.. if it still doesnt start. Open the carbs to check if there are any dirt blocking the jets. Blow the holes with compressed air. Assemble and replace it back. Start. if it still doesnt work, check for the cable, make sure it has current firing to the spark plug.
let me know if this helps..

sounds like it could be the power regulator that is usually under the seat or beside it under the plastic cover. It acts like the distrubitor on a car. If damaged by not having a fues it could be failing. Also check the coild to make sure it is working correctly.

Check to see if you are getting any spark to the plug. You can get the testers for a few buck at Auto Zone (spark plug cable inserts into it and then you push the contact pin into the cable) when you kick start the bike the tester should light up, if it doesn't you may have a bad coil or the wiring to it may be loose/disconnected.
