After running my pressure washer for a while, the pressure died but the machine kept running with no hiccup. I've removed the hoses and checked for any obstructions, but still no pressure coming out.--i can actually put my hand over the hole while the engine is running on high and block water from coming out. The only thing I noticed as changed from when I started cleaning to when it died was my water source had been changed from cold water to very hot water. So I'm not sure if I need a new CAT pump or if it's some sort of valve replacement. I'm tempted to buy a new washer, but I spent $800 on this 10+ years ago and would like to try to fix it 1st.
I think yor hot water softened one of the pressure seals and has allowed it to buccle. This will drop the pressure away from the pump. It will require new seals to be fitted and the cost is close to $200.
U cannot use hot water with a cold water only pressure washer. They have a thermal relief valve that will open and relieve pressure/heat from the pump. Hook up only to cold water tap and pressure should return.
