Clean throttle body, change the fuel filter, any codes? you could do some adjustment that last thing. It is set screw at the throttle body. You can put DW40 on cable to throttle body.

SOURCE: dodge ram 1500 engine rpms surge at freeway speed

those sensors could cause the issue, clean the MAF 1st, also clean the idle system using the following procedure, the IAC can cause cruise surge. I use this to cure these problems all the time.

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve (IAC) and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4 low voltige to transmission

If you only have 5 volts you may have a bad battery or alternator. Or maybe a B+ (battery positive) wire short to ground. Check voltage engine running at the battery then alternator +. If your voltage is that low your TCM won't work.

I have a 1996 dodge ram 1500 5.2L V-8 and i have replaced the tps with a brand new one two times and my truck still idles up and down. I haven't got a clue what is making it do it.

look for a vacuum leak the plastic intake manifolds crack when the engine is cold spay the intake with carb cleaner you will hear the idle raise or stumble depending on the size of the leak

1996 Dodge Ram won't start, compression is low

you need ti check your fuel pressure out and also do a no load test on your altenator because that might not be producing enough electrical energy to start the truck

1996 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L with 93K. Oil dummy

I had the same problem and ended up changing the oil pump and it did not fix it. (Peace of mind anyway and it was cheap) I replaced the pressure sensor (that happens to be tucked in deep between the back of the engine and firewall) and the pressure gauge worked just fine after that.
