Mine does the same thing(same year) and my best guess is....
It only seems to do it when its really low on gas. On the expedition the pump is located near the back of the gas tank(when backed into a driveway the gas gauge reads significantly less gas than what is really in there) so when accelerating the gas sloshes around and the pump doesnt get enough gas to keep it running. Hope this helps.

Won't start !!! 2002 dodge ram 1500 4x4

There are several things that could be causing your 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 to backfire through the intake and not start properly. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Check the spark plugs: If the spark plugs are worn out or not functioning properly, they can cause the engine to backfire and not start. Check to make sure the spark plugs are in good condition and are properly gapped.
  2. Check the fuel system: If the fuel system is not delivering fuel properly, the engine may not start. Check the fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel injectors to make sure they are working properly.
  3. Check the ignition system: If the ignition system is not functioning properly, the engine may not start. Check the ignition coils, distributor, and ignition control module to make sure they are working properly.
  4. Check the timing: If the timing is off, the engine may backfire and not start. Check the timing belt or chain to make sure it is properly aligned.
  5. Check the compression: If the engine has low compression, it may not start properly. Check the compression using a compression tester.
If you are not familiar with these systems or are unsure how to check them, it is recommended that you take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic for diagnosis and repair.

1997 opel corsa 14i while drive if I depress accelerator car backfires, how do I fix that

Tune it up. New spark plugs if they are over 50,000 miles old.

Backfiring is typically a symptom that occurs with a gasoline engine that has spark plug wires crossed, spark cross firing inside the distributor cap in dust or condensation or an over lean condition.

If it runs smoothly when normal cruise it wouldn't be crossed wires so that leaves an over lean condition or cross firing in the distributor cap as the most likely causes. So check the inside of the distributor cap for moisture, dust etc and clean it if you find it.

Next, to check for over lean on acceleration the most likely is partially plugged fuel filter so renew it. Next step is to clean the fuel injector (s) with the good breed of fuel injector cleaner that you add to the fuel.

Backfires during exceleration

Tune up time or bad gas. If it's been awhile since you replaced the plugs, check them. You may also want to try adding a higher grade of gas or a bottle of octane booster.

Hesitation and backfire during exceleration

Did you recently replace your plugs or wires? Sounds like you have a wire crossed. If not, it may be time to replace the plugs (tune up). Also check your fuel filter. It may be clogged.

Will start but wont run

get a spark tester ,this is only a basic test .check the coil for a spark if found remove the lead from the spark plug. plug in the tester. turn the engine over to test for a spark each time. if no spark found check and clean the contacts in your distributor cap and rotor arm then refit test for a spark. at the lead to the spark plug .if found now remove your plugs one at a time .smell for fuel .if found change the plugs.

1999 toyota tacoma has developed a nasty miss but only when excelerating

There are several problems regarding a misfiring engine. You can try checking all the spark plugs and seeing if they are good . Check the Spark Plug wires for any breaks or loose fit. If possible get a code at Autozone or other autoparts store. they do it for free. Because it could be a simple sensor problem Such as the Crankshaft position sensor, O2 sensor etc.
By eliminating the electrical ignition problems you can start to troubleshoot the fuel. Check all filters (ie: fuel filter, air filter, etc.)

I have 98,000 on my 2004 sable. It misses a little on exceleration. Should a replace plugs, what do I need to tune it up? Thanks

If you have never replaced the spark plugs I would do that first and also change the fuel filter. Try those first and go from there.

I have a 2000 chevy blazer 4.3l engine\is backfiring

Start by checking each cylinder for spark with a good spark tester. A misifre is either spark or fuel, so you can cut the problem in half. The engine light is probably on due to the misfire.
