This is a common problem on GM vehicles. This security light indicates a failure in the antitheft system that comes standard on your vehicle. It miscommunicates with itself and then shuts down the vehicle as a protective measure. There is no recal on this. The dealer wont help you. Question edited for fix all the typos and spelling. Question moved to category. No, you can't disable it, you have to fix the problem, not try and find a way around it. There is help to reset, but you probably need an auto electrician or a local place that installs alarms and remote starters. If it is engine oil, you could have a leaking head gasket or intake gasket. If its trans fluid, you could have a leak inside the radiator.

The CEL (Check Engine Light) will not go out until you hook up a OBD II scanner to your vehicle and erase the code. If it comes back again after you erase it than either the original problem still exists or you have a new problem. You can go to your local AutoZone store and they can hook up a scanner and erase your code for free.

Some cpu units can be reprogrammed using a laptop with the programming sequence in it . On the later vehicles the dealers can alter the cpu program to give different engine performance. Talk with a shop that specialises in vehicle performance to see if yours can be reset

It's either the BCM or the speed sensor, have it scanned with a a gm tech 2 scanner or equivelant to pinpoint the problem. I hope this helps.

Disconnect batt or computer-clean the plug . If no go then try to drive it tua autopart for freescan. U may need fluid change or update on trans

How did you check code's ? OBD2 scan tool ? There are more computers on your vehicle then just the PCM/ECM - engine computer . BCM - body control module , Air bag module , ABS - anti-lock brakes , instrument cluster etc.... Need a factory scan tool or someother professional type scan tool to read these codes. If the check engine (SES) light is on code's are stored in one of these other modules . Your best bet mite be to have a qualified repair shop check it out .(not dealer )

It could be more than one problem.The cooling fan could be running because the temp sensor is sending the wrong signal to the computer.The ac compressor or clutch could be bad causing a heavy load on the belt and the engine.I would unplug the compressor clutch and see if the engine still bogs down with the ac engaged.

I looked at info for 4 cylinder engine, 2.2L You have to remove starter motor to get at it, so says my database.

the coolant temp sensor is located at rear of engine oppisit the timing belt under rear of intake manifold.

Open the hood. You will notice there is a large black box on the right-hand side directly behind the battery. This black box is the fuse box. Pull the top of the fuse box off. There are two clips on either side; once you pop one side, the other comes off very easily. In the top left-hand side of the fuse box where all the fuses sit, you will see a large orange/red block. Below this block is a button that says "reset." Press this button for 5 seconds. Turn the car on and wait for a minute. If the light does not go on, turn off the car and set the key to ACC on the key ring. Push the reset button again, holding it for a total of 15 seconds. Turn the key to off, take out the key, return the key and start the car again. Allow the car to run for 2 full minutes. It is taking the system a few minutes to register that this button has been pressed.
