The lid switch within the lid lock mechanism is a reed switch and is activated by a magnet located at the center front of the lid. The switch activates when the magnet is near it as when the lid is closed. If the error code is "
lid", then the problem is with the lid switch not activating either due to a faulty lid lock mechanism or the lid magnet is weak or dislodged from where it should be in the lid. Place a strong magnet over the lid lock and if the error code persists, the problem is with the lid lock mechanism particularly the reed switch.
Remove the three screws from the rear of the console assembly, if the error code persists
, then pull console
towards the front of washer to hinge it open and remove console. The
machine/motor control assembly is located on the right hand side of the
machine that is enclosed in a casing with a clear tube/hose connected to
it.Make sure the lid lock harness is connected snug and fit to the machine/motor control board. If there's no connection problem, strip the wires of pins 1 and 5 and short circuit them. In this manner, the lid reed switch is bypassed.
If the machine works fine, the reed switch is indeed not working. You can install a switch between pins 1 and 5 as a temporary bypass for the reed switch. But you have to switch it off every after cycle and switch it on only when using the machine.
