If the unit is starting with no wires to/from the switch, then likely the switch is just supposed to ground the spark in order to stop the engine.

If the studs are there to hold it all in place then just buy the correct ( metric probably) nuts for it.

There are many generators made in china that use a generic Honda look-a-like motor. If your gen was made in china, good chance that there is an aftermarket starter assembly. Remove the starter and take it to your local small engine repair shop and ask them to try to match it up with another brand. If the starter is missing, take the generator to shop and ask them to look at mounting and starter cup. Good chance there is something out there that will work. If you have the starter assembly, small engine shop may be able to repair. If the starter rewind riveted to fan cover, take the whole fan comer to shop. Good luck

Check for a crankcase with oil in it on the motor...if you have oil in the motor already then you do not need to mix it in the gas...
I am very sure that you will find this motor does not need the gas mixed...
Run straight gas... usually it is good to run Prem in small motors..

the little spring should go through same holes as the linkage it's purpose is to take the slack out of the rod to keep the engine running smooth a broken spring will cause it too run erratically

clean carb old fuel is no good

try replacing the hose anyway ,and put new clamps on it some times you can't see the cramps and sometimes the clamps go bad.

I would look at the honda and yamaha generators. Their small gensets are unbeatable and rugged as they come. Dependable as sunshine.
But, that's just my opinion!
